Afforable options for privacy filters for lcd monitors?

Thread Starter
I need a privacy filter/screen for an lcd monitor in the front office. Its a doctors office and now that i put in a widescreen in the front, patients can see stuff onthe screen. Looking at amazon the filters run ~70-80 bucks. Are there any cheaper options or alternatives?

How big are the screens? They run pretty cheap on eBay

Can you just use some cardboard paper to make a shield? See the diagram below for the idea. I suppose if you use some higher quality nice construction paper, the overall result will not be too non-professional looking, even for a doctor's office.

I think just having such a physical shield will send a clear message to everyone not to peek. If stronger deterrence is needed, put a sticker 'Do not peek' on the side. I bet everyone will get the message loud and clear.

Steal one from the library.

Seriously though, 70-80 bucks for a few monitors shouldn't be a big deal for a doctors office. You could try some cheap ebay ones if you're desperate.
