Should I RMA this H50

Thread Starter
The temps I'm getting on my Sig Rig is not overclocked. I tried to overclock and my temps where well into the 70c range. The high you see is while playing various games like Black ops. My friend has a H50 Temps underload dont go over 60C.

I would personally try a re-seat.

Maybe some different TIM.

If that doesn't work check and make sure that your not pushing too much vcore into that chip. (Manually set your vcore..)

If non of this works then I would be leaning towards an RMA or upgrading.

EDIT - What is your ambient temp? Ambient temps play a HUGE roll in overall temp of your CPU and stuff.

It's your ambient temp that's causing the high temps.

Since your using the TIM that came with the H50, take it off, clean your CPU and clean the H50, then apply a PEA SIZE of TIM to your CPU then re-seat your cooler.

Make sure you tighten it down like Top Left, Bottom Right, Top Right, Bottom Left.

The stuff that comes with the H50 is shin Itsu, which is one of the best around. You're ambients are to blame. Try reseating it and see. Check whether the pump or fans aren't being throttled in the BIOS. Are you running a push/pull config?

I'm not running a push/pull at all, I set the fan speed to run 100% at all times, its at 1600rpms now. If my room temps are to blame that sucks as my stock fan keeps my Cpu cooler. My friend has the same setup as me and his room is just as warm and his temps on his H50 are way below mine. Thanks for the replies I'm going to get some Tim and reseat it. I have an RMA number ready to go from corsair if this doesnt work.

Wait...so how are your fans positioned on the rad? I know Corsair says set the single one as intake but I can tell you from personal experience with the H50, set it as exhaust.

Unless you're saying you don't have fans on the rad whatsoever - which is most definitely your problem. My room ambient temps are ~70-75 in the daytime (electricity costs a butt ton here) and I sit at 60-64C full load on my OC'ed 970, which will run hotter than your SB by default even at stock.

I have the H60 and my temps were really high after I first installed it so I rotated the pump 90 deg. and that gave me much better contact with the CPU and much cooler temps. See if that helps you out.

Pea size is way too much. Uncooked grain of rice is more like it.

Your problem might have to deal with case airflow, a bad seat, or even just the high ambients, which I'm dismissing as my room is just as hot and my CPU stays right near 70c with IBT on max burn with 8 threads @ 4GHz.

What's the fan situation in your case?
