If you end up being SOL, how about just getting the rest of the nickel plating off? I'm sure there's an acid or something you could use. If there's a paint shop near you they could probably use the sand blaster on it for you

MetalX B-929 is a chemical stripper for nickel and copper safe. A bit of science involved but if you are careful you can pull it off:

As far as sandblasting, you need the right media. I think soda (don't remember since the conversation was back a few months).

Hey my uncle has a paint shop too, well it's a collision repair shop, he has a sand blaster, I can't imagine not having one at a body shop. I'd like to use it for a case mod project, but he lives 3 states away.

Why do you have block mounted on card and opened?
You are calling for a disaster.
First dismount the block from card and then open it.
This is the only safe way to open blocks.

EDIT: do not sandblast. go with chemical stripper. replating afterwards might not be an option.

Might be slightly off topic but I've been reading that ek copper corrodes too due to impurities (rrtech), is this true?
