Well that would come under the heading of "not doing what you want it to without problems". I do run the usual stability tests first for both CPU and GPU overclocks but I find that they sometimes don't pick up on every instability, especially during combined CPU / GPU tasks like games.

Plus, as I have a WC'ed rig, I get the highest temps whilst folding as both the CPU and GPU are heating the water. Running OCCT and Furmark at the same time just doesn't seem to heat things up as much, maybe because Furmark doesn't have access to the CPU time it needs to run at full capacity? Not sure, but either way it just doesn't do the job.

A google search that returns results from other users of the same forum that may or may not be as trustworthy as tc. So yeah, he's more reliable.

What I used to do is run Linpack or Prime on only three cores of my quad. And the video card would have full access to the fourth core. That seemed to produce the most steady load. If you have HT enabled you could try six or seven threads on the cpu stress test of your choice and see if Furmark will keep your GPU at 100% usage.

Notice how he didn't even respond to every other post with some very good info about the subject. The dude is a troll. He has no interest in a discussion about the subject. Just ignore him.

It is true that no one is right 100% of the time. You can't just blindly trust anyone's opinion. It is always important to understand how that person came to that conclusion. Knowing how to do something is one thing but knowing why can be just as important.

There is quite a few post's in my thread that claim the exact thing that twocables is saying.

Many have passed XX amount of runs in IBT with AVX and have failed within a few minutes of standard prime blend, forget even doing a custom with 95% of your free RAM.

Another instance is that a member was folding on his rig for a few days and all was fine until he ran a prime blend, again a standard prime blend, it failed within a few minutes.

All I have to say on the matter is IBT/LinX with AVX is crap for sandybridge and prime95 blend test, whether it be standard or custom, it is much superior to the avx instructions that many stress testing softwares adopt.

Proof?? go through the sandy stable club. Those are imho credible sources!

EDIT:

Actually he was folding for two weeks lol

The general consensus of every one of those threads is IBT/LinX/Linpack is a more intense stress test than Prime95. I guess he knows something everyone else doesn't?

But if you say so...

But if these forums aren't enough for you.

Again, you've said nothing about memtest86.

Let me lay it out for you:

If a computer passes X hours of Linpack and X hours of memtest 86, it will definitely pass X hours of prime 95.

If a computer passes X hours of prime 95, it can still fail X hours of Linpack and/or X hours of memtest86. Sometimes within minutes.

Again, Linpack and memtest86 combine to be a much better test(s) of stability than prime 95.

Guys, life is too short for this. Let's just ignore MinitroN and let him be the way he is. He will never change no matter what we say or do. We are all wasting our valuable time on him!

BababooeyHTJ is correct: MinitroN is trolling us (he couldn't care less about who's right or wrong). So let's stop playing his game and move forward. MinitroN's agenda is clear: the only thing he wants to do is troll us, and we are allowing it. So let's stop allowing it by no longer acknowledging that he even exists.

Besides, this is EpicPie's thread, not MinitroN's.

"I can't provide any relevant links to back up any of the misinformation I just posted so I'm going to yell 'troll.'"

Thanks for your "contributions" or lack thereof.

Your agenda is clear, you're trying to save face and can't admit you were completely wrong about prime95, linpack and memtest 86.

Still waiting for that link where prime95 is a better stress test than linpack and memtest86 combined.

You have yet to provide any evidence against the unsubstantiated claim from your previous post. I quote:

Please provide a link or stop posting misinformed and ignorant information/advice.

Since all you do is provide wrong information maybe you just shouldn't post in the first place.
