BIOS detecting incorrect RAM voltage?!

Thread Starter
have two sticks of Corsair http://www.corsair.com/memory/xms-cl...m1a1333c9.html They are rated at 1.5V. But in my BIOS DEFAULT it says 1.6V. However, I can set it back to 1.5V. Would a higher voltage be damaging? Why would my motherboard GA-EP45T-UD3LR board detect 1.6V as default?! All this time, it probably has destroyed my RAM, then. I have the latest BIOS, too...

You can run it at 1.5v. If BSOD occur with memory faults, then try 1.6v. It should harm the DDR. Have you tried XMP profile? Sometimes, bios updates correct DDR setting issues also.

Don't worry, no damage will have occurred to anything, running 1.6 would be fine but if they are stable at 1.5 then you might as well run it at that.

When you mean default, are you talking about bios default settings? That's totally up to the manufacturer and since a lot of DDR2 are 1.6 average voltage, yes. Now If you set it to XMP profile, it will adjust it to the DDRs voltage and timing specs. According to your DDR, it's not XMP profile, so you will have to adjust the settings manually.
