Best card for flight simulator projector ??

Thread Starter
Hi, looking for the best card to use in a flight simulator build. Prefer ATI but would look at others. Need VGA HD-15 output to connect Mitsubishi XD-300 U projector w/ 120 inch screen. Will run X-Plane, MS Flight sim. Want clear, fast, smooth, and cool. Will be used stock out of the box, no clocking etc.

No budget.

So far have Phenom II X4 Black 955 cpu, 8 gig PC1333 Dominator ram.

Any recommendations on motherboard, PS and cpu cooling appreciated as well.

Thanks.

If im right the rez of your projector is around 1024x768 I'd just stick a 6850 and call it a day, or if u want a 6770, should max those games since they are more cpu dependent. Also the card should come with an adapter to hook up the projector from dvi to vga.

Flight sim is actually EXTREMLY demanding... Whlist they are CPU dependant, personally I'd go for more than that.

I run fsx on my setup and it only uses about 40% of the GPU on ultra high settings. Its very CPU dependant. Therefore, I'd recommend a AMD Hex core or a Intel 2600k sandybridge to run smoothly at high settings. If you are only upgrading your GPU, get a 6950 or a 6870 but you will need to use the VGA adaptor. It might be overkill if your just running flight sim games. If your CPU is AM3 socket, there are plenty of 990FX motherboards out there starting from about £130 which would be perfect should you wish to upgrade to bulldozer or crossfire in the future.

Ah I see sorry about that Is the Firepro V8800 the best choice then? Or is the 4850 just as good? The V8800 looks expensive
