[Hauppauge] HD PVR Gaming Edition Launches - Page 2

Wait...
I have an HD PVR and it does EXACTLY the same thing???
The only difference I can see is the green LED

Yup Why I like it. Compresses the video and feeds the computer HDD the video so it's just playing back the video and saving it

EDIT: ok, This is the difference "With video pass through for no delay recording!" And that's it Unless the original HD PVR should have had that. Then in my experience there is a bit of delay.

Too bad they don't make any more Inkredible adventures. For me Marvel is boring compared to MK. Then again SSFIV AE is where it's at.

Nah, I have an Avermedia HD DVR, and I use fraps to bypass HDCP.

And it's HDMI

My team has Been waiting on this for a longtime. When your the top 20 cod team, proof of wins are required. We used to just use a camcorder but pass-throughs are much nicer.

What's different? It looks pretty much the same. I'm sure you can use it to record anything. I use a HD-PVR to record all my TV shows from my STB in HD using SageTV.

BTW you can use the current HD-PVR to record from your consoles as it is. Is this going to be a cheaper version?

I don't see anything different than the other HD PVR except the color scheme. No HDMI either!!

to the few people posting about fraps, fraps is more hard drive intensive than gpu intensive. if you check out the bit rates at which fraps records at its clear that most Hard Disk Drives will struggle to record at say, 60fps in 1080p, which in turn slows down your frame rate in real time as you play the game.

now, 60fps 1080p avi files using the fraps video codec can reach 1gbps or over!!!! THATS MORE THAN 128mB/s. most hard drives can't write video that fast. i had a minimum 20fps increase when i changed from 1 western digital 1tb green drive, to 2 in raid 0! this is the price you pay for video being recorded at pretty much the exact same quality as a freshly rendered image.

otherwise, yuck, component video....and i bet u, its going to be crappy quality video since its limited by a usb 2.0 connection (to me its crappy at least...h.264 is fuzzy)

EDIT: along with hard drive speed, u need quite a bit of ram for ur cpu and gpu...
