URGENT Help Required - Uninstall of AMD drivers USB Problems

Thread Starter
I have just uninstalled the CCC drivers (11.8 preview) to do a fresh install of the WHQL 11.8 driver. I uninstalled CCC and when the PC rebooted, none of the USB devices work (including mouse and keyboard)

SafeMode is the same, Windows 7 startup repair says I don't have any restore points...pretty sure I do but.....I vhave reset BIOS, tried last known good settings, SafeMode, normal mode...none of my usb devices are working
frown.gif Anyone heard of this problem before? I have just unplugged my PSU and i'm going to leave it off for a bit but it seems a really strange problem as I only uninstalled the graphics driver!!

Mouse and keyboard work fine in Bios and setup repair, just not in windows environment!!!

I'm guessing as I have uninstalled the AMD drivers, it has removed my chipset drivers too, causing this problem! Just trying a PS2 keyboard to see if I can reinstall them somehow!!

Am I right in thinking this?

Most strange, may I ask did you just uninstall ATi CCC? Or did you use DriverSweeper?
I too have an AMD Chipset Mobo and ATi GFX and have never known of this issue - the only thing I can think of is maybe, just maybe the Chipset Drivers were corrupted somehow...

Anyway if you dont have the Disk to reinstall the drivers here is a link to ASUS webiste : -

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A88TDV_EVOUSB3/

Again just to check also - you say you have no restore points when trying to repair the computer, using Windows Startup repair, is that true? Sounds like a corrupt OS, have you downloaded anything unusual in the last few days?

Nope just 11.8 drivers frown.gif My USB drivers are currupt, it wont reinstall the drivers, I ran a microsoft repair tool and thats failing to install them too. So annoying, I havent copied anything across to my backup drive for awhile so I'm going to lose a lot of programs and game saves! grrrrr

Trying to do things with a ps2 keyboard and no mouse is a total nightmare. Got no option but to format i guess

Hmm just to be safe I would - you never know when you download (even a new GFX Driver or Windows update) unfortunately you leave yourself open to anyone latching a file onto the actual file you want, I maybe wrong but I have had a lot of experience with this and IMO it is always safer to format to get rid of any unmetionables (i.e. Virus, Malware, etc.) - good luck and PM me if you need any help....

thanks mate. I have no choice but to format as I can't use keyboard and mouse! Hopefully a format will sort it!! Seems very odd removing the CCC caused this. Next time i'll just upgrade over the top when a new driver comes out. I didnt use driversweeper. If it still doesnt't work once formatted, it might be a motherboard problem but i've only had it 6 months so I hope not! I know Asus boards have all kinds of weird issues althought keyboard and mouse working fine in the windows install at the moment.

Oh well good news, I know a format is tedious as you've got to reinstall Drivers, OS, etc. but it is better to be safe than sorry - anyway glad it has all worked out for you.
