Anyway to permanently disable INSERT key on my laptop?

Thread Starter
I have an Asus K60IN Laptop and for what ever reason it seems the insert key is almost always on by default. Even when I turn it off using FN-insert it will for some reason turn it self back on if I push the number lock key. I have absolutely no use for over-type and I want to know if there is an easy option for turning it off since google only shows me registry edits to solve the issue.

Windows 7 OS

Also in what instance would someone even really need this function?

There's a utility called SharpKeys that will do it. Here's an article about it: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/map-any-key-to-any-key-on-windows-xp-vista. Cheers. smile.gif

Yeah I mean bashing stuff is the first thing that comes to my mind when I lose work but knowing my luck it would be stuck on and the button would be broke to turn it off...

KeyTweak will do too. If your NUM LOCK is somehow connected with your INSERT key, you might check your BIOS settings. Not sure what you use your NUM LOCK for. If you want numbers, you can set it to turn it on during boot up and see if that also turns on your INSERT key. Not sure what BIOS it has tho.

I agree with this idea as it is far more permanent than the other solutions.
