*w/o any AMD drivers installed, search for this key in regedit and delete it, then reboot. Your catalyst settings are now cleaned out.

I like some of the advice here...I agree with removing the 6970, you want your 6990 as your main GPU and the GPU you connect too.
Get that installed with CCC then reboot another time and put the 6970 in, CrossfireX bridge connected.

AMS: I'm wary about doing that, mostly because I feel like it'd be a step backwards (We've made the BSODs go away!). I'll do it if I must, though.

Some more information:

GPU-Z recognizes the Cayman card and that it's a 6900 series. However:

1. It shows GPU Clock and Default Clock as 360 MHz/830 MHz. I don't think these are correct values, though I may be wrong.

2. It shows Memory Size as 0 MB. I KNOW this is not a correct value.

3. Under computing, OpenCL is checked. For the 6990, DirectCompute 5.0 is checked.

GPUZ won't read the proper values w/o the driver installed.

Hanging at the Windows logo on bootup now. How do I get into safe mode if F8 is mapped to my bios boot selector?

On next reboot at the black screened logon, just hit the power button once to initiate a shutdown. On the next reboot, should boot into windoze fine. *Windoze is installing base driver.
