I had issues with my router and modem and I did just that, I saved my cash and bought a much nicer router/modem separate. Like I said, I could care less about the ones whining here about an internet connection, especially the ones of you with nice sig rigs. And slow? Slow internet connection? I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter how fast your network connection is, the server just wants to make sure you're online.

If I can tether with my phone and keep a solid connection to my games (which I've actually had to do before because I couldn't afford cable or dsl at the time). Then I'm pretty sure its not that big of a deal. People just want something to whine about.
The thing is this is for a SINGLE PLAYER OFFLINE GAME. That is just absurd. And this is supposedly in place to prevent piracy, yet people who have the pirated copy (it was out before the game released I believe, if not within hours) have a better experience than those who legally purchased the game. There have been countless issues with connecting to their servers and crashes when trying to connect which are still unresolved. Success?

And again, it is not only the connection issues but the message that Ubisoft sends by putting this in place. Apart from the people who have limited/no connection (yes, it DOES exist even though you dont think so) there are people who like to play single player games on the road while traveling, or in their hotel room without having to pay absurd internet rates just to log in to play their single player game. There are also people in the armed forces who are stationed overseas without an internet connection.

To top it off, it is a terribly glitched port. This means they took the time to slap on their DRM, which they LIED ABOUT and ninjad it in without warning, but did not have enough time to make it a half decent PC game.

You must be the kind of person who says "i don't care if the police watch everything i do, i'm not doing anything illegal so i don't need any freedom"

Completely missing the point here. Congratulations.

Those starving Africans can't really be starving, I mean, I get enough food! They're only whining because they can.

^ What you sound like.

Yes, most people can afford good internet, etc, but there's always the chance of issues with any internet, no matter who its from or where it is and if you're trying to suggest its easy to get internet that never goes down, well, I've got one of the best ISPs in Australia (Internode) and I still get drop outs, nearly everyone I talk to on WLM gets dropouts too, there's no-one that gets 100% reliable internet.

If I made some DRM that required your car engine to be on whenever you played a game, would that be fair enough, right? I mean it'd stop pirates! It's not like they could crack it or something, how preposterous!

I like the fact that you're saying people are missing your point when you aren't seeing it from their point of view either, nicely done there champ.
Also, you're whining about people whining so you're clearly after finding something to whine about yourself.

Nicely trolled though, helped me pass some time when I should have been studying.

of course, the illegal copies have no DRM issues.
How about no. If it's really an issue buy it, then crack it.

I don't mind simple disc check type DRM but this always on for single player is baloney. I have yet to purchase such a game.

Congratulations. You win the asshat award for assuming!

Yeah, because having a better router is going to improve the quality of the copper going from my house to the exchange? That's going to declutter my cabinet and make it so there aren't as many people trying to connect from one cabinet? A better modem/router will attain me much higher and more stable speeds. Of course. Yes, that's right.

No, really mate:

1. I shouldn't have to be connected to the internet to play a single player game or LAN game. There is no need at all.

2. Just because we all have internet connections, doesn't mean we should be using them 24/7. Especially seeing as ISP's are now keen on data caps (not that I have one, but many others do) Why should a singleplayer game that has nothing to do with an internet connection require one?

You are the kind of person that is wrong with the gaming community. Roll over and take any old BS they throw at you and then fall over yourself making excuses and using your own personal justifications and impose them on everyone else. Not everyone else wants to tether their phone to their PC in order to play a singleplayer game. MANY people think that idea is preposterous. What if Ubisoft decided you HAD to be online for the XBLA version? Not going to happen, so why is it ok to force this terrible crap onto PC gamers?

You are in a minority.
