And why the hell should I pay extra for a decent router/modem/whatever when the current one works relatively fine, just for DRM that I don't want that doesn't actually do its job? (Stop pirates)

I also have a bandwidth cap, yay for connecting to servers on 64Kbit/s! Fun! Lets also let Ubisoft SSH into our machines and the like, that way they can see if we're pirating or not! All in the name of anti-piracy!
I'm done after this one, quote me all you'd like and continue to pretend like you have the slightest idea about networking. I really do try to enlighten some people and from what I've seen a large majority of you just want something to cry about and are way too paranoid.

You're shoving your foot in your mouth with the sarcasm, "Oh lets let them straight into our PC and don't worry about security, woohoo!" And before hand you make it very clear you're not willing to pay 60 for a modem, 60 for a router, load the router with a custom firmware to gain more control of your network and secure it properly. This would also save you an extra 5/10 charge every month, sure it will take time to make up for it, but you might as well have something you can keep if you ever cancel your contract.

Oh btw, the DRM is still there and it will continue, just so you know.

Or he just has a lousy ISP. What's that you want him to change one? There isn't always another choice

Those who pre-ordered the game seem to have the best chance of getting their refund. Though UBI hasn't released their official statement yet. They just keep deleting forum posts.
I wonder how the success rate is in the US. If I were to guess, it would probably be lower.

Ubisoft's DRM is unfair for military personnel that are stationed oversees with their laptops.

I love how people in the PC crowd still trust and respect Ubisoft at all.

The DRM will continue? Yet they keep removing it from their games because, shock horror, people don't like it!

And every exchange here is a piece of crap, there's a monopoly on them with Telstra and Telstra are known for doing "epic" repair jobs, I've got no hope no matter which ISP I go with, same copper, same exchange, same random dropouts at least once a week, it's only for a little while but its enough to stall downloads, force MSN, Steam, etc to have to reconnect...Which means I'd randomly lose progress.

There's no way you can spin this, it's seriously stupid and unfair DRM, not everyone has a 100% stable internet connection, I'd be surprised if there's anyone who has never had a drop out with a residential connection.

Also, welcome to Australia, a decent router and modem costs upwards of $150, I could get a HD6950 2GB for the price of a decent router and modem...Which aren't even the problem, I can see where the problem is even just using wireshark and with what Windows/Linux tells me in regards to dropped packets, it's only traffic going out to the internet and it's always been happening at the house I'm at now, even with the 6 different modems I've tried on it.
I've tried everything I can think of, as well as stuff the networking teacher at University has said to do and it's obvious where the fault lies, I didn't have a single drop out transferring large files across my network without the internet activated or being used, please don't assume I know nothing about networks just because I disagree with you and you cannot see past your own nose in regards to peoples situations.

i for one like the game and don't really care about the drm so I will not be asking for a refund, it's a fun game that ubisoft deserves money for.

I just got an email from ubisoft support, after sending an (admittedly half hearted, i enjoy the game) request for a refund (would rather have gotten bastion now that i think of it). They aren't doing it, however they did say that they are making a patch that will remove the DRM, and it will take two weeks to complete it.
