Failing Hard Drive Questions

Thread Starter
Last night my hard drive started clicking.

I had windows and several programs on one partition, ubuntu on another, and a third storage partition with large games being installed to that.

Is there a way to copy the install files and rebuild the directory on another hard drive? How would I do that? Just clone all of the partitions?

I want to avoid reinstalling those games if at all possible.

Thanks for any help!

Minitool partition wizard you can then copy the entire partition to a new disk as an exact mirror. Windows have one built in but I find it a little harder to use.

If you use steam you can copy the steam apps folder to another location
(C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\) and then when you reinstall windows onto another drive you can just copy your steam apps folder into the same location on the new install.

Any program with partition mirroring should work, if you get the exact same size HD you could just literally mirror it, if not you may need to go partition by partition but you shouldn't lose anything.
