Filco Zero questions

Thread Starter
I'm enjoying my Leopold tenkeyless w/MX blues.

Would the Filco Zero tenkeyless @ TKC be considered to be more clicky then MX browns, and slightly less clicky then MX blues?

I think the key travel is a little less as well.
Well, Fukka doesn't have that click you get with the blues so the only sound I hear while typing is when I'm bottoming out (more like clacking lol).

Be careful, ripster said his Zero pings like there's no tomorrow.

Mine doesn't ping btw.

Thanks reaper.

So does the Zero have a stonger tactile click then a Filco with MX browns?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there also a Filco Zero with XM's?

You're welcome and to me, they both feel very different. Browns feels more smooth to me while the Fukka is more like clacky so in short, yes but YMMV.

Yes but I believe these last few batches only have Fukka now. I could be wrong though.

Acutally those are Fukkas and not XM's.. I think the description is incorrect.

The older Filco Zero's with the model number FKN87Z/EB-Y were the XM's and FKN87Z/EB is the newer version for the Fukka's

Got info from the GH Wiki - http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=ALPS+switches

Been trying to do some more research on Alps since I do want to try them out also.

ok, I'll shoot TKC a quick email and confirm the switch type, since it says XM white keyswitches in the description.

The white Forward/Fukka is a clicky switch.

The boxes still say XM even after they changed to the Forward switches. I had asked Bruce at Keyboard Co about this, and he confirmed that they had the newer ones with the Forward switches.

I have only typed on original clicky Alps switches - which feel more like buckling springs than Blue Cherries. The Forward switches are meant to be lighter, but not quite as substantial feeling.

Thanks for clarification. ALPS is complicated indeed.
