Just bought my first semi high end headphones ATH M50, some questions ^_^

Heyah guys,

been reading this part of OCn for quite a while now, im no audiophile or anything, but I appreciate good audio quality. Before I'm using generic earphones from apple or whatever, but recently, it started nagging on my earlobes, so i've decided to switch to headphones, and Oh boy! the difference on sound quality is freakign noticeable! All this time, i've been missing a lot of stuff on the tunes i've been listening to, heard a lot of stuff i have not heard while using my generic earphones!

my question is this, i've heard i have to burn them in? i've read that i need to play white noise on medium volume for 2 days straight or something, then on the other forums, it said dont play white noise, I dont really know what to expect after the burn in, but upon hearing the difference from my old earphones to these M50, i want the best quality now!

For now, I'm playing nyan nyan cat from youtube, 10 hours on loop

oh, and I'm not sure if I should get an amp for this.. should i? what any recommendations? ^_^

I mean i know i shoudlnt buy these stuff until I know what i want, but hey, if im going to buy/do something, might as well do it right the first time right? ^_^
thanks a lot ^_^

You can play anything you want to burn them in, just let them sit burning in for a couple days and you should be good.

M50s don't need an amp, but that doesn't mean it (and your future headphones) won't benefit from one. There are cheap amps ($50-$90) that can give a nice boost to your headphones. I would suggest you check out head-fi for some suggestions. Ones that come to mind are:

Electric Avenue
Custom CMOY amps
Fiio E7 and E11

Quick recommendation; if you need a nice mobile amp and you don't want to spend a ton of money, Fiio e5. For $25, its one heck of a deal.
