Processor fan spins for a second then stops.. - Page 2

Khaotik55: Some systems have a BIOS setting that kills the system unless *A* fan is plugged in to the right spot. People here are helping the poster work around that before getting into more obscure issues like shorting against the case backplane etc.

sounds like a psu or a cpu problem. It could be possible ur board shorted out though

Well I still haven't gotten a chance to watch the video. I was at work last time I posted in this thread and I'm at work again. However, I had asked if the computer was booting at all - and I never got a response from the OP, so I assumed that it was booting fine and he just couldn't get his CPU Fan working.

If the computer isn't booting at all - or shuts off after a second or two. Then there a few things you can try.

Take the CPU out, check for bent pins. Re-seat the CPU, lever is down, make sure you don't over-tighten cooler.

Take out the motherboard, place it on a anti-static surface and hook everything up to it outside the case - if it boots up no problem then there is something in the case shorting it out. Make sure all motherboard standoffs are being used, have a screw, and are tight. Insure there is nothing behind the motherboard that could be shorting it out, loose screw for example. Shake case!
