So the No.4 regedit is really necessary on M4?
Or is this like "don't fix it unless you have problem" kind of thing?
Yeah, it's a little problem that comes with literally all M4's, but not a single one has been failed to be fixed. Including mine, because my boots are super fast again, except I fear it may be Nvidia drivers that are conflicting with the boot. :/

I get way more accurate feel for steps, gun firing, etc in games like BC2 and CS:S with my Prelude than with the other cards.
Whatever works.
I get better positional audio from 2 channel speakers (yamaha ns-10m) with me at the sweet spot in a acoustically (somewhat) accurate room.
This eliminates the use of headphones since it's basically as accurate as wearing one.
I guess it's hard to understand for people who haven't experienced it...
It's kind of like if you close your eyes and you can SEE the sound where exactly it's coming from without waring a headphones.
(you can differentiate sounds coming from 15 degrees and 20 degrees and stuff like that.)
I'm an old school R6 player and in RVS (raven shield), the positional footsteps sound was the key to everything. (on top of the positional gun sound)

Question, I got my M4 today and I'm about to install it. Should I use the MS ahci drivers provided with the OS or DL intel's RST?

Always avoid MS drivers, an important lesson. :3
Going with AMD drivers for seems to have helped.

Oh one more question. you said don't connect to the internet to update the OS automatically but which update do I not to install?
Since I have to update the other part of OS.
I'll have to install mobo and sata3 drivers and all the stuff before updating the OS, is that correct?

Hey, I just wanted to toss something audio related out there, since this is now a dual-purpose thread.

When I had onboard Realtek HD Audio and Sennheiser PC151's, I had excellent positional audio in games. In Left4Dead, I was able to tell anyone exactly where a special infected was - without fail. (okay, not true - I got a position wrong about once per 50 games)

I noticed that everyone else seemed to approximate or guess based on where would make the most sense. This seemed to give them about a 70-90% success rate. (So calling out the wrong position for an infected about 5-15 times per game)

I thought maybe my ears were just that awesome, but then I flipped motherboards. My new board had VIA HD Audio rather than Realtek HD Audio. I immediately noticed that the VIA HD Audio had crystal clear voice quality. Movies, Ventrilo chats, and microphone stuff all sounded way better. But once I fired up Left4Dead, I realized I no longer had such good positional accuracy. Sounds often seemed to be coming from the wrong locations. This is with the exact same headset and other hardware.

It was actually a bad trade audio wise - but I'm not going back to my old board DDR2 board.

There's a lot of different Realtek HD Audio chips out there. If anyone is curious, the board I had was an Asus M3N78 Pro, which claims to have Realtek ALC1200 Audio. My new board is an Asus M4A87TD Evo, which claims to have VIA VT1818 Audio.

I got a brand new hard drive the other day and it wouldn't let me install Windows 7, it said "Cannot detect Hard Drive" and it was listed in the BIOS. I found out that I had to install XP first (which was annoying because I lost my XP disk and I had to spend 3 hours looking for it) but once I got XP installed I managed to install 7 just fine.
