why do such a minor upgrade

Btw, I keep all my CPUs in the plastic cases they came with.

Maybe he got a bad 1090T that couldn't break 4GHZ, so he decided to go with a higher binned chip in hopes of making it? I don't know I got my 1090T for free

If you have bought a graphics card recently, they usually come with some fairly stiff black/grey foam. I recommend using an exacto knife and cutting it down to size (square block) for your processor. Next, use your exacto knife again to dig out a snug square for the chip to fit into. Basically like a little box made out of the foam.

I prefer to reuse things, but if you don't have any foam I'm sure you could run to the hardware store and pick up something that would work the same way. Next I would recommend wrapping and taping it up in an anti-static bag for storage.

I don't like using what the processors shipped with because it's too tiny and easily could drop off of a shelf and be forgotten. If you have a ton, you could actually carve out a whole set of holes for them and keep them all together. Very OCD friendly.

Hope that helps.
