I am in need of a gpu upgrade. I have been waiting for price to drop but then i realize that hd 7k is around the corner. Even if i buy the mid range card of the 7k , it might be around a 6k high end card. Like a 7800 compare to a 6900. What do you guy think about that being possible. It will save me money abd have a newer cooler card and efficient

I think it's entirely possible. As you can see with pas cards like the GTX 285 and such that used to be crazy expensive are now outperformed by say a gtx 570.

If you wait, you'll never stop waiting. New stuff is always around the corner. If you need an upgrade just buy now.

Performance might be on par or less but HD 7000 has better power consumption and less heat due to smaller die 28nm vs 40nm Cayman Pro/XT Antilles (HD 6900 series)

It's of course speculation. The 2gb 69xx series cards are good performs and really priced competitively. The poster above is right, there will always be something better coming down the pipe.

If you can afford it make the purchase and enjoy dx11 today.
