Will Antec Case Fans Sufficiently Cool My Computer Parts? - Page 2

Preferably, I want to buy parts from:
(In-store) http://www.canadacomputers.com/
(Online) http://www.newegg.ca/

Case - I have chosen to buy an Antec case because I have assumed the case would operate about as quietly as the impressively-silent, Antec Performance One cases operate. Should I buy the Antec Nine Hundred instead? Or can anyone specifically recommend a case that can quietly and sufficiently cool my parts?

Motherboard - I had wanted to purchase the cheapest P67 motherboard that supports NVIDIA SLI. I had thought I should either buy the Gigabyte BA-P67A-UD4-B3 or the Asus P8P67 Pro (Rev.3.0). Searching through forum posts, I had concluded that both motherboards are great, and that I should buy the cheaper motherboard. Should I buy the Asus P8P67 Pro (Rev.3.0) instead?

RAM - I had wanted to purchase reliable, fast RAM. Can anyone specifically recommend alternatives?

HDD - I had chosen the "Western Digital Caviar Black 1000GB (1TB) SATA3 7200RPM" because I had thought it had been the best HDD available from the sites I have listed for its price. Should I buy Samsung Spinpoint F3 for the same price from Newegg.ca?

PSU - Can anyone recommend a better-bang-for-buck PSU from one of the sites I have listed?
I'd humbly recommend:

@Case: LIAN LI Lancool PC-K62 Black
Pros:
-it has 4 stock fans (3 x 140mm, 1 x 120mm), tooless installation from the PSU to the fans and motherboard.....
Cons:
-not good for water cooling, stock speed fans might need adjusting and afaik doesn't have on/off switch for the LED fans so you should buy a fan controller that offers control for LEDs as well or buy the cheaper K60 version which is basically the same minus the fact that the fans don't have LEDs and the no side panel window (for some it's a plus).

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16811112239

@Motherabord, idk abot SLI as i never considered it, so i won't comment on this matter. But i'm going to say that both Gigabyte and Asus mid and high end boards are very good.

@RAM: CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Pros:
-1,5 V, low profile heatsinks allowing maximum compatibility with after market CPU coolers
Cons:
-none that i can think of right now, but it's weird it doesn't have any reviews on the egg
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820233202

@HDD. My personal opinion is yes, you should buy the Spinpoint F3.

@PSU: to name a few

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817151088

@CPU cooler

Newegg reviewers state:

Quote:
The panels are the cheapest junk plastic. They fall off. Do not carry this case with the panels on, they will break. This case is too weak to hold my build.. just carrying it has tweaked the case. I have to wiggle and bang the case to get the side panels back on.
Quote:
Poor quality control. Very low grade plastic...It only took me about 10 seconds to realize this case is overrated. Antec and Coolermaster make higher quality cases for the money. Sure this case has some good features and a fancy name, but the overall fitment and finish feels cheap.
Are the Newegg reviewers' statements true - can I buy a better-quality case for the same price?

I may stick with the Antec Nine Hundred Two.

I have owned many Atec crap box's. I love their other products but their case's suck, over priced and lack in features.

I bought the CoolerMaster 690II AD to replace my antec's(I've used all the popular ones) and its perfect! it cheaper than 900/902/1200. 10x better cable managment ability. but the biggest problem I had with antec was the dust! that thing is a baggless vaccume!

Spend the 80 bucks and get the CM690IIAD, or basic your love yourself

As for PSU I use and am in love with This PSU. I have had one in my Sig Rig for just over 8 mo and it works great. I got it for 60 bucks too.
I'm about to build a i5 2500k/Xfire 6950's with some OC'ing and I plan to reuse this PSU, its a best for only 60 bucks.

Toss on a D-14 and your in Epic town

I would pick a F3 over a WD Black. I did for this rig and couldn't have been better its loads cheaper and you will never feel a diff in speed between the F3/Black. If you are one of those that drool over benchmarks, get the black its a TINY bit faster, but nothing you can feel.

Which Case and PSU is the best/should I buy? I would appreciate hearing from many perspectives.

PSU // will pay ~$90 max

Antec HCG-620 High Current Gamer 620W Continuous Power Supply ($90 from
Canada Computers)

Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply ($70 from
Newegg.ca)

+ Any, Additional Recommendations

Case // will pay ~$120 max

// I ideally want the case that cools the best, operates the most quietly, and is made of the most durable materials. //

Antec Nine Hundred Two V3 ATX Mid Tower Ultimate Gamer Case ($120 from
Canada Computers)

Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($80 from
Canada Computers) // Canada Computers reviewer states the case has grounding issues

+ Any, Additional Recommendations

What are the benefits for using the "Noctua NH-D14 Six Heatpipe Dual Radiator CPU Cooler" ($80 from
Canada Computers) over using the stock CPU fan?

first off, Antec 902 does not suck at cable management. If you say it does, 1) ur lazy 2) ur not putting much thought through it.
Especially for v3 cases, with HUGE cutout in the back with bigger cable management whole at the bottom to fit all the psu cables through there. In addition there is a littel gap at the top of the motherboard tray and the 200mm fan to route ur back fan, top fan, and ur cpu 8 pin cable through there.

As for cooling, this case has awesome airflow. I currently have my front 2 intake on medium, side fan on low, top fan on low, and p/p h60 with GT ap-15's and my max temp never goes above 59c at 4.5ghz oc at 1.31 bios prime blend for 13 hrs. Even with my sli setup with 2 460s which blows all the hot air inside my case, i never go above 53c while gaming with an ambient at 26c.

although there are some cons with this case as well, like cleaning the dust filters in front and side are pain in the ass as you have to take off the thumb screws but it's not a biggy considering i only put thumb screws on the window side panel side, so i dont have to open the right side panel.

it certainly ain't the best cable management but it's far from "Terrible"

I never said the cable managemnt sucked, only that it is lacking compaired to case's that are much cheaper. my biggest problem with my 900/1200 is dust. The entire case was a dust magnet, the finish the painted the case with and those useless little nooks on the top where massive collecters. Not to mention how quickly the inside's would be coverd in dust. The second is the 200mm fan on the top. 3. would be the goofy HDD cage filled with tons of thumb screws. I perfer 690II to The antec 900. I even saw a temp drop just from swapping case's. but the cooling performance was not one of the reasons I swapped case's. It was the other stuff.
Here's mine.

I personally do not like Caviar Black's. I had 4 in my lifetime and all four, after 1 ~ 2 years of use, they start making annoying noise. (ticking) I would prefer Samsung F3, since you're only using it as a storage drive, you don't need a caviar. Also, HITACHI Deskstar 7K3000 is an awesome drive. I have 2 and they're extremely fast. And thumbs down on the Antec 902 V3. Overpriced. As someone said above, phantom is a great case. To me, the lian-li PC-K62 seems better since it is similar to the 902 but with better features and cheaper. Just my .02

I don't understand why you get so much dust inside that case when you have dust filters available on all posible intake fans. As you see inside my case i haven't cleaned my case over 2 month now and it's still fine exception to dust filter cleaning i do every month.

Although u may have different opinion on this case, it's more pricey than CM advance 2 because it has a side window on the case as yours do not. of course this is more along the line of aesthetic but usually cases with side windows tend to be more pricier than case that do not. (it like same concept as paying a little more for a case that's painted inside and out rather than just the outside)

I did get mine for 100 dollars when it was on sale, but if you compare cases WITH side window, antec 902 is not priced too high above any DECENT cases with a side window.

@PSU - Can you recommend a PSU that costs about the same as the "Antec HCG-620 High Current Gamer 620W Continuous Power Supply" (~$90)?

@CPU Cooler - Newegg does not describe the CPU Coolers you recommend as compatible with the Intel Core i7 2600 (LGA 1155) socket. Can you recommend a quiet, LGA-1155-socket-compatible, ?cheaper? CPU cooler? Or can I decently avoid heat and noise using the stock fan?
@Case:
The front and top bezzels of the Dragonlords are made out of plastic and designed to come off easily to have access to the dust filter, fans etc. They say they wouldn't transport/move that case with the plastic panels on? Well i can say the same thing about the 690 II. The rest of the case is steel and you won't/shouldn't find quality issues. BUT there is a slew of other options, feel free to choose whatever you like. The Antec 900 won't be a bad choice either, it's just not my cup of tea.

@PSU: don't skimp on PSU, a few couple of bucks won't break the bank, i'd personally love to own any of the PSUs i recommended.

@CPU cooler: You are wrong, LGA1156 is compatible with LGA 1155 so it doesn't need to be listed as they say both coolers i recommeneded are compatible with LGA 1156. The difference in temperature and noise compared to the stock cooler is CONSIDERABLE (and that's an understatement).

If need be i wouldn't hesitate to buy the Core i5 2500K instead of the 2600K so i could afford a better PSU and a after market cooler. But that's me and that's what i learned from past mistakes.
