If you will accept that iOS will continue to grow as long as they add features then why can't the same be true for WP7?
It could be true for WP7... If they had any popularity. Once they start heavily advertising (Microsoft definitely has the money for it), then we'll see where WP7 goes. iOS is already established and popular. Now, it's in people's comfort zones. Windows Phone 7 will have to brand themselves strategically to get into that comfort zone. It's not "Oh, Windows Phone 7 is amazing, it'll definitely become famous!" Even with all the advertising in the world, sometimes the public just doesn't take it, whether it's good or not. All I'm saying is that something similar might happen to Windows Phone 7. Remember Microsoft's other recent venture into cell phones (the Kin)? Granted, it's not Windows phone 7, but it could just as well happen to them.
And remember, I'm no expert. just trying to have an interesting conversation.
