Alice: Madness returns, Thoughts?

Thread Starter
Surprised I haven't really heard much about this game. It sort of released without much talk.

So far I've played about 8-10% in and can't get enough. Combat is silky smooth, graphics and physics are good, and the story pushes it along well enough. At times the combat can get a little repetitive along with the puzzles, but overall its been a blast to play so far.

Anyone else played it? If so what have you thought's on it so far?

I'm only at the start of the game, around 8% into it, pretty awesome I gotta say. Love the atmophere.

Interesting game. It's little different than other games I've played in same genre.
Overall I love it

I bought it, played for like 5 minutes then had to quit for something and have not touched it since. Maybe I should get back into it... so many games right now that I have not finished it's hard to keep up with them all, and I can't stop buying more!!!!!!! It's a disease!!!!

Does not surprise me at all. I wish however that I was able to get some money back from the ones I do not play anymore, I have spent thousands of dollars on games, kinda pathetic... QQ.

It's good times. Amazing art design and creativity on display in terms of the levels.

It's very long though ... not usually a bad thing but in this case because of the lack of variety to what you're doing in it, it gets old long before it's done. I'm like 80% through it which I did in like a couple weeks, then I suddenly was like ... this is boring doing all the same stuff over and over.

Still, up to that point I enjoyed it, and got a LOT of fun hours of play out of it. I'm sure I'll revisit it and finish it at some point when I'm not so burnt on the mechanics of it.

The PhysX load on 'high' is ridiculous though, there's an awful lot of parts (esp. whenever using the pepper grinder) where I struggled for performance, even using a dedicated 8800GT, and the rendering on my 470's in SLI.

All in all, I think it's a really good game but I wish they'd gotten more creative with the platforming, and coming up w/more different monsters. I mean, there's lots of monsters, but too many of them you fight just like you did w/a 'different' monster from before. If the platforming and combat aspects were as creative as the level design, it'd be one of the best games ever. The first Alice suffered from the same issue, tbh.
