[GIZ] AT&T’s New Text Plan Overcharges You by 10,000,000 Percent. - Page 12

Corporate greed. Ruining the world $100,000 at a time.

ATT Is probably one of the worst companies iv ever dealt with. They overcharge for everything, and give you 3rd rate service in return.

Sending or receiving with no way to block incoming? Yeah that's pretty expensive considering it costs the company NOTHING to provide it.

Wireless industry is basically a cartel.

$25 a month for a 2GB plan ain't nothin. Neither is 20 bucks a month for texting. If you had a full time job, it would take you about two hours to get that paid off in a day. If you're complaining about something like that; don't have a cellphone or sort your life out.

Now multiply that amount for every person in your household.

4 person household
- $100 for data plan
- $100 for wireless plan

$200 a month just on wireless phone service. $2400 for one year of service.

Yeah that sounds about right. Typically if you're married and have kids you'd have combined income. Things are expensive. Nothin you can do except pay the man.

ATT is probably the most greedy and crook filled company in the world.
I'd love to see it go down.

Think about your math though--assuming the wages one makes would pay off the data and texting plans in 2 hours, that means that the hourly wage of the person is $22.50--assuming a full time job of 160 hours a month at that wage, that equates to 1.25% of your paid working hours a month (and similarly, your overall monthly paycheck) go toward paying ONLY your data and texting plans for your cell phone. Assume a voice plan of $40, and then nearly 3% of your monthly income goes toward your cell phone. That's a lot of ones income to pay toward cell phone service.

There's a huge difference between being able to pay for something, and whether the cost handed down to the consumer is proportional to the cost of the provider, and whether it's actually worth it.

SMS messages cost the providers virtually nothing, hence it should be priced accordingly. True, there's a little bit of value in being able to communicate with people in a simple manner without having to talk to them, but it should be scaled first by the cost to the provider (which is nothing), and then a small amount due to the perceived convenience by the consumer. Right now, it's completely the opposite.

Even though you could afford it, would you pay $20 for a big mac? I mean, it would be paid off after only one hour of working a "real" job...

Um, no one is putting a gun to your head forcing you to become an AT&T customer. There's many other options out there for you to pick from.

"I've used them forever, and now they're horrible!!" Uh, no, they aren't. You're just cheap. But, it's okay, you can be. It's allowed.

AT&T For Life .... my next tattoo.

(wonder who'd believe that if I didn't type this)
All wireless carriers over charge like this but the article just happened to use AT&T as the example. "Many other options" doesn't really make sense when there are 3 choices and they all work together anyways. Cell phones border on being a luxery but thats besides the point. It should be an extremely cheap luxery but the telcos have us bent over.

What if Chevy and Ford were the only cars you could drive and they got 3 miles per gallon when they could easily get 50. People would be pissed. Thats why people are pissed. Its literally retarded that they don't have an option to send them on the data stream now. Literally RETARDED. Texts are so small that even the heaviest texter wouldnt put a dent in their data like the article pointed out. But they want to keep it as a "premium feature" so they can continue to rape you even though texts should be free.

My next tattoo will be "**** AT&T"

2 GB a month for $25???!??!!

HOOLLLYYY

In Canada, 2GB a month plus 150 minutes will run you $90 a month on the Bell network. The other networks aren't much better either in terms of pricing.
Just be glad that you don't have to pay our prices in Canada cause from a Canadian point of view, AT&T looks like robbery
