4.9GHz temps ok?

Thread Starter
So I got my 2500k to 4.9GHz and i wonder if my temps are ok. Idle is around 38C and using Prime95, it gets to up to 70-75C (depending on the core). Are these temps ok? I've heard that prime95 is really CPU intensive and that it would be about 5-10C cooler since no other program really stresses the CPU like Prime95 does.

There is no definitively stated safe long term safe max yet.

For a reference only I keep mine below 70c during prime stress testing.

those temps are absolutely fine for stress testing.

Just Run Intel Burn Test and see your temps skyrocket high. I prefer Intel Burn Test to Prime anyday.

I've only been running for about 5 minutes when this thread was posted, but now it has gotten up to 85C @ 1.400V for about 20 minutes after this thread was posted.

The voltage is fine, however 85C is quite high in my opinion. I'd try to stay at 75C and under personally.

Replacing your budget cooler with a more decent one might help. E.g. NH D14, Cogage Arrow, Thermalright Silver Arrow, Venomous X and such.

Well...my computer bailed on me a few minutes ago. I guess it's stable enough as I don't think Starcraft 2/Crysis 2 will be like a prime95 app.
