Page Files? - Page 3

I don't recommend setting the max to the same size as the minimum.

You can set the minimum quite small and it will probably never need more, but it;s best to leave the max reasonably large so that, on the off chance something does hammer the page file you don't run into crashes.

This thread has proved valuable since almost ALL SSD guides say to disable the pagefile.

Just put it at 1GB for now. If you get crashes or any problems later on, increase it. The optimal page file size is just dependent upon on how you use your computer and what applications you run.

Some people have 24GB to 48GB of ram and still need a large page file since they run memory intensive programs. Other people barely use 4 GB. It just depends.

You said you will have 12 GB of ram. I suppose 1 GB page file should be fine. If your ram usage ever gets close to 90 percent usage of your 12 GB ram, you should increase your page file to something like 2-4 GB.

If that is still not enough, increase the page file even more and/or buy more ram.

I don't mean to be harsh, dude, but come on. 75% of the respondents have told you a 1gb min/1gb max page file should suffice...especially if you say you'll have 12gb ram!
