Upgrade From Small Laptop?

Thread Starter
I currently own a 13" Acer laptop. It's got 7hours of battery life, i3 CPU, and an LED screen.

I bought it for school, to be small, portable, etc. However, I'm starting to miss the power of my old desktop.

Are there any 13-14" laptops that have i5 CPUs and a decent graphics card? I'm thinking about selling mine and upgrading, but I don't want to have to lug around a 17" heavy beast.

Is this possible?

The Alienware M14x comes standard with an i5 2410M and a GT 555M. Starting at $1100. Just off the top of my head

Hmmm...I suppose that's a last resort. Anything cheaper? I'd be willing to maybe go 14", maybe even 15"

Or check out the Acer TimlineX 3830, 4830, 5830 if I am right.

That link seems interesting. I was expecting some overpriced stuff, but it's not.

Not sure if you'd know this, but do you know what they mean when they give the option to remove the CD drive and put in a HD caddy? Does that mean I could have a total of 3 hard drives?

If the laptop normally has a selection of 2 HDD's and then the optical drive selection, yes you can have 3 HDD bays in a laptop.
