Crosshair V DRAM problems

Thread Starter
Wondering if this could be RAM or CPU...tried plugging in my Dominators at 2000 and Ripjaws at 1600 with a X4 955 and the lights on the mobo stop at DRAM.
The 955 won't run as high as those are rated, I have Mushkin Redlines that are 2133mhz but have them at 1066.

Snap, didn't know that. Wouldn't the RAM downgrade to 1066 automatically? I'll have to try and swap out my X6 then if this is the case.

Also want to add that I know both sets of RAM work because they use to be in my current sig rig. Also, I can't even get to the BIOs to set them at anything else.

Yeah they should automatically downclock to the right timings. You might want to do a once over of everything making sure they are all in place and connected properly, a double check, as I was having the same problems when I first installed my CH5.

Eh, ill try again tomorrow. Getting tired. I'm sure everything is secure in there and i've tried every stick out of 4 and the DRAM lights stays lit up every boot. Gonna swap out CPU's tomorrow and see if that works. Really hope I don't have to RMA the board. Heard ASUS is a pain to deal with. Thanks again.

I know how you feel, my rig was down for a few days as I figured out the bugs. Good luck with it though.

Mine has been down for 3 weeks because the DRAM light never comes on...if you find anything, please let me know...I've already RMA'd the board, and replaced every part beyond it save the case with no result.

I'm actually seeing a lot of people with DRAM problems like me. Boots up and either the DRAM light is blinking or it just stays on. Will read all I can and experiment when I get home.

Nope, everytime I press it the DRAM LED goes off for 1-2 seconds and just turns right back on. Forum reading is leading me to keep power cycling until I can get into BIOs/UEFI and turn the frequency down to 1333...(which is pathetic if I have to do this) to get to semi boot.
