I don't see why not, which h67 board did you get for free? I mean, it's worth trying out at least, they wouldn't sell a motherboard that you couldn't use an OS, and applications with it I don't think.

Yeah, I'd go for it, which SB cpu were you planning on pairing with it?

[edit] looking at it's form factor, I'd probably try to make it a small lan party/htpc type build, but couple it with a gtx580, or something like that.

Ah, gotcha. Good plan, that's what I was going to recommend, you might as well spend the little extra now on the K version, than to have to repurchase a CPU in 2-3 months, or whenever you do feel like OC'ing.

Well if budget is no concern, why not just go for the 2600k? It'll nab you sweet benchmark numbers, 2mb extra cache, and HT. They are only $100 extra at microcenter, I don't know newegg's current prices.

[edit]
You could probably do some OCing that that board if you wanted to. A nice 1-1.2ghz OC should be possible, depending on the chip you get. I think it's limiting factor would be the 4 +2 Phase Power Design, and the lack of cooling on the mosfets. I would say monitor the mobo temps, and add some heatsinks to the mosfets if you need to.

Of course its good enough for gaming, you can use the onboard graphics also. ( wich are good for low/mid range gaming only) The difference with a p67, you can overclock but it has no onboard. Th h67 you can not overclock, but you have the onboard graphics option. Both boards support dedicated graphics cards. And the z68 is the best of both .

sandybridge @ stock will Top all the gaming benchmarks and remove the most CPU bottleneck you can with a processor without OC'ing it so yea OP. you should be perfect for gaming on an H67 board, it should be better than your current processor @ your current OC even.
