The following would be a better gaming rig: (this is based on reading that you have a $550 max budget)

Rana + A770E3
extreme-budget gaming rigs get the most bang-for-buck from tri-core AMDs and dual core intels. Don't waste a dime on a 4th core.

Rosewill challenger + Rosewill Green PSU
Great case, great budget PSU

500GB 7200RPM seagate + Asus DVD burner
Faster drive

Sapphire 6770 + 2x4GB RAM kit
WAY faster GPU than the 9500GT... Not even in the same league. This will play all modern games at reasonable settings.

Apply the following promo codes:
RWCASEAUG
EMCKBJD28

Comes to $528 with a copy of windows 7 home OEM at regular egg pricing. You can send in a pair of $20 rebates, dropping the price to $488 total after MIRs.

If you can move the budget up to $600 you could use a i3-2100 on a different mobo, which would be a better gaming CPU. Either way, the above rig will play games really well as is. Far better than the original rig posted.

This is what I have now. The kids mom insist on it having 8gigs of ram cause she found a HP for 480 but it doesnt have a graphics card and she wont understand that you need a graphics card to play games. and run them smooth
Take in mind that there will be no overclocking done to this rig,all stock settings.

You should at least swap case to the as it is a better deal $40 shipped.

$50 for a 320GB.... I think that's to much. F3 1TB on Superbiiz with code DEALMONGO costs less.

This is not a good use of funds. If you're going to do this, just let her buy the pre-built machine.

Lets break it down compared to what I suggested.

CPU/MOBO:
You're going to spend $153 and not have a heatsink for your CPU (which means the machine is bricked until you get one), and has a core you'll never use. My suggestion is $122, includes a stock heatsink, and will perform just as well for the intended application.

Case/CPU:
You're going to spend $70 on a half-crap case and a really lousy PSU. Take $15 of savings from the above CPU/MOBO setup and you can afford the $85 suggestion I made, which is a much nicer case, and a PSU that is in an entirely different league of quality. Or, if you want to keep it around the same price, XD recommended a combo that is still far better/$ as far as quality is concerned.

HD/Optical
You're going to spend $74 for a slower HD and less reputable optical drive. My suggested combo special is $54 for these 2 components and results in a larger capacity, faster hard drive and a well respected optical drive.

GPU/RAM
You're going to spend $111 here and have a GPU that is less than HALF the performance of the 6770 suggested. And have ram with no heat-spreaders and higher voltage requirements, which could translate to lower reliability. The combo I suggested that covers these is $164...

When you factor in the give and take above, the total build is only $17 more to go with what I am suggesting, and if you use the cooler-master case/PSU combo that XD suggested instead of mine, the price is about the same.

If this machine is intended to play games, you need to understand that there is a very real cliff that you walk off of performance wise below HD6750/GTS450 cards. Those are the baseline standard cards for good gaming performance. everything below them is just placeholder.

Perhaps try this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...g-pc,2970.html. I'm sorry to say that a $480 budget gaming build is like trying to say "i need a core i7 995x for about $10." It's very hard. So order these parts. Just switch the radeon 6850 with a gtx 460 768mb then order. As you can see, it does fairly well in benchmarks and gaming tests.
