6950 pc question

Thread Starter
Are they any bad? I might be doing a trade my 5850+cash for pc 6950, just wondering if they have any issues or anything I need to be aware of?
I don't know if it's 2gb or 1gb yet.

None of the 6950s have any issues mate, they're great cards and most can OC to 1GHz!

Even better, reference 2GB models can unlock to 6970s (i'm sure you already know).

Only gripe I have with them is the loud stock heatsink/fan.

What hirolla said is dead on accurate. The higher vram of the 2gb version will help increase its lifespan since games are using more and more memory.

Pretty much, especially if you run high quality AA and/or games with hi-res custom texture mods etc.

Does vram adds up when you cf? I am planning to use 2 of them for bf3 on 1920x1080 is that enough? I found out the card is 1gb only btw.
Also I am looking on benchmarks in techpowerups it seems the 1gb versions beats the 2gb a lot of times. This is a mistake? I am not planning on increasing my res or going with multimonitor btw.

No it doesn't add up. Get the 2GB, they will both do the same when not VRAM bottlenecked, but most games us more than 1GB of VRAM now.

Anthrax is right. For the price difference get the 2gb. You won't ever have buyers remorse of that purchase.

Get the 2GB if you plan to go CF. Dont trade if its 1GB.

Crossfired 6950s 2B will blow BF3 away at 1920x1080. I am getting about 115 FPS maxed out on BC2 on 1920x1080. I'd definately go 2GB to be safe so you are future proofed for a couple years.

6950 are best cards.
