Rig of the Battlefield

Thread Starter
Hey guys! First post here, and I'm looking for some constructive criticism. Here's my planned rig for playing Battlefield 3 (when it comes out) Keep in mind here that I'm trying to build this rig for $1000.

Here we go: (Note I copied this right from CyberPC website from my cart

•CPU: Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-960 3.20 GHz 8M Intel Smart Cache LGA1366
•HDD: 500GB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD [-18] (Single Hard Drive)
•MEMORY: 6GB (2GBx3) DDR3/1600MHz Triple Channel Memory Module (Corsair or Major Brand)
•MOTHERBOARD: (2-Way SLI Support) Asus Sabertooth X58 Intel X58 Chipset SLI/CrossFireX Mainboard Triple-Channel DDR3 FCLGA1366 ATX Mainboard w/ 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, USB3.0, SATA-III, SATA-II RAID, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 1 PCIe X1 & 1 PCI
•SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
•VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 1GB 16X PCIe Video Card [+123] (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA)

$1000 is really as high as I can go, no higher. I really appreciate any responses. Thanks guy, much obliged!

What you wrote? $1000? I'm disappointed in CyberPC, I expected better, even from them...

The absolute best you can do it make the PC yourself - you pick the quality and you put it together. Nowadays, I would consider LGA1366 outdated for the normals... Sandy Bridge (1155) is where it's all at!

I would look for is...
CPU: Intel 2500k (LGA1155)
HDD: Samsung 1TB F3
Memory: 2x4GB 1600mhz (Ripjaws, whatever)
Motherboard: socket 1155, I would go with the Gigabyte UD3 but that's just me...
Video: Radeon 6950 or GTX 560.

NO NO NO.

Get lga1155 (p67 or z68) in stead of LGA1366.
Start with at least a GTX570 or 6950\\6970, and then get CPU and mobo you can afford, even if it's only an i5-2400.

Yeah, definitely go for Sandy (LGA1155), especially since it's going to be compatable with Ivy / PCIX 3.0.

you can get aloooot better for $100 with a custom PC last gen proc/mobo with a mid range GPU

I'm gonna check on newegg what I can get. Let's see, 1155 and a 560 minimum. Roger

3 minutes in the egg, and I made a public wishlist.

Add Windows 7 Home Premium and a DVD Burner, +$120, so the total is around $990. $10 under budget, higher quality components (psu comes to mind) than CyberPC (at least I would assume so?) and miles better than the rig you posted.

If you decide to build one yourself, here's one that is a little over 1k. I'm sure you could find somewhere to shave a few bucks.
