Well i think Ivy bridge is sticking with the 1155 socket?? But no word on if current chipsets will support it . Last thing i heard was you will still need a new motherboard for ivy, because the do not work with the cougar point pch chipset!

+1 although i dont agree that I7-960/1366 is outdated, It is older but still very usable in all aplications.

A 2500k is new and faster than a 960 and can be had at the same price ( so its a better choice) I also agree get a Gtx 560 or better, and you will have great rig. I suggest you edit or start a new thread , and build it yourself. Just my opinion, buying prebuilt a COMPUTER will never get you the most bang for your buck.

Last i heard it was confirmed AND Gigabyte announced that PCIe 3.0 will be natively supported on all their current p67/z68 boards.

For the i5, would a liquid cooler be needed if no overclocking were to be done?
He has no PSU? How is he going to run a rig without one.

for your PSU get something like:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371047

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371031

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182199

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182200

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139027

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139028

these are all decent PSU's and will handle even a GTX 580. If you want to go crossfire/SLI at some point tell me and I'll find some good matches for that.

no. Even the stock cool would be ALRIGHT. I would get something like the Hyper 212+

Yeah i think you might be correct. But unless your current board supports pci 3.0 you will lose that! So some people will still need a new board i believe.

Alrighty, so from what you guys gave me here, I think I have a build, complete with a 570gtx (really psyched) and the i5 2500k. I appreciate your help guys.
With 1k you can get 2x Gtx 460's or a GTX 570. I suggest just buying the parts and building it yourself.

No, you would not need watercooling.

Buy a Hyper 212+ and change the multi to 45x

There is no point in buying a "K" series CPU if you dont plan to OC

Cheers,

Ishi

For BF3 I might look to a better GPU. I use the 460 GTX and am going to ditch it for BF3. But I must have MAX graphics at 1080p.

The other thing that stuck out was the HDD....almost puked when I saw it.
IMO there are only the only spiny disk's to get.
Samsung F3 1tb
Or WD Caviar Black
Or this This WD Black if you have Sata 6GB/s.

If you want more performance from a standerd HDD than these offer, you have only two choice's. Raid0 2 of the above drives of bite the bullet and go SSD. I perfer the F3, When I compaired it to a WD black of the same specs you cant tell the diff at all, but the black is faster in benchmarks.
