no no no I think I may have phrased that wrong. I do not want a all in one headset. I would like to buy a separate mic to attach to a headset.

Like this:

But I think they discontinued that labtec mic.

I'm a bit of an audiophile and I LOVE my combination of Xonar Essence STX and ADH700s

I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT234pros which I use for gaming if I want a mic.

I don't have an awesome set of speakers at the moment, they're next on the upgrade list. Using Creative 2300s which pack a surprising punch in my small office

Can't you read at all?

Anyway, what's your budget OP?

Lol @ yelling at the guy to read when you don't even see that he already posted his budget in OP.

Anyways, for $60, you not gonna get any better than JVC rx700, amson sr850, or superlux hd688 for headphones. Unless you want to ebay yourself a pair.

As for the soundcard, DX is perfectly fine for gaming as long as you don't play BC2.

I just got the RX700's and they are truly awesome. People seem to like the RX700's over the 900's as they say the bass is better and there are more mods for them which actually make them much more superior sounding than the 900's. The RX700's were perfect for me as I need it for quite a few things, and the only other cans that fit the book were the ath-a700's, but for me they were way too expensive...
-Isolation
-Gaming
-Alternative Rock
-Some bass

However, if you don't require the isolation and you are more of a bass head, than the samson sr-850's for $40 could be a better choice for you. IMO, I think that the Asus Xonar DG for $30 is the best buy. They really don't fall very far behind the Creative variants at all in terms of gaming, and the amp and dolby headphone make your cans sound a lot better over all. Then trust me the ZM-MIC1 is the best idea, trust me... That means for both the SR-850's, the ZM-MIC1 and the DG, that would be $80!

LOL my bad. I did the OP, but I forgot by the time I wrote this.

PS. I wasn't yelling, it was more of a jokingly (it's a word!) kind of tone.

Id get the Xonar DX and the

for gaming and music, they are awesome bang for buck, stretch to the HD448 or HD555 if you can as they sound much better, the xonar is very good but I prefer my fiio e7 over it for music as you can use it with an ipod too

Pretty sure the HD428 and the HD448 can't match up to rx700, sr850, or hd668b. The hd555s are in another price range and at that point it has competitors like ultrasone, the ad700, m50, etc...

You can still use mic, and mod the RX700's.
