Hard Drive Dilemma

Thread Starter
Hello, My Primary drive (C) is on it's way out, it's at least 9 years old, I have a 2tb, and a 1tb drive, they are faster, and newer, Is there a way I can create a partition of my 2tb drive, put all of my c drive on it(including OS(Vista)), then change the partition of my 2tb drive to be a c drive, and not a slave drive? My c is really slow, and is having problems, if I can't do this, what can I do, I cannot format c and get a new one, because most things installed on my D(1tb) and L(2tb) have something linked to my c, and my c has most of my most important programs on it, and they will get corrupted.

PLEEEEASE HELP

Thanks in advance

~ Evil

Your problem isn't that easy to solve. Normally I'd suggest backing up all important data on the 2TB, format the 1TB and put the OS on; since this isn't an option I suggest this alternative: buy a third disk drive to replace the current dog slow disk; clone the slow disk on the new one and then just use the new disk as an OS drive. Since the info on the new disk is identical with the original, all links to the 1TB & 2TB drives will work as before. I'm not saysing your idea with slicing a part of the 2TB won't work, but it seems convoluted and you may put your data to a risk.

Here you go:

http://www.overclock.net/online-deal...t-f3-1-tb.html

1TB for about $50. Fast enough for an OS drive.

I agree with dragosmp - slicing/splicing data/program/OS/etc like that is just going to make a huge mess. It'll be a big hassle - I'd spend the $50 to avoid those hours/days of pain.
