going from 8800gts to ?? - Page 7

Change the CPU cooler to a HR02 macho, a much better cooler, and pretty cheap too.

Why did you buy a 850w? Not even a 6870 cfx needs that much. Otherwise everything is pretty good.

Ill check out the cooler you recommended. As far as the psu goes I figured it would be better to have more than I need instead of less and it was a good deal and a quality psu. I figured it would be something I can use in my next system as well since its overkill in this current build.

Getting anxious now! I have everything on my build list purchased and at home except the corsair 650D case which is being delivered today. Only thing I haven't bought yet is a good CPU cooler and a new video card. I'm leaning towards the 560ti but still open to opinions! I am going to build the system in the next night or two and just use my old 8800GTS untill my next check when I will be able to by a new video card.

And as far as the cpu cooler goes I will probably just use the factory one that came with the CPU untill it's time to overclock.

So what do you guys think? I know it is a million times better than my current system and I hope with the right video card I don't have any problems running Battlefield 3 at full or close-to-full specs.

-SilverStone Strider 850w GOLD psu
-Intel I5 2500K
-ASRock P67 EXTREME4 (B3) ATX Intel Motherboard
-Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 ram
-Crucial CT064M4SSD2 m4 2.5" Solid State Drive - 64GB, SATA 6Gb/s
-Also going to be installing my SATA 1TB hdd from my current system
-Corsair obsidian 650D case

I recommend a 6950. Or if you have the money a 6970. I'm very happy with mine I can play BF3 with everything ultra except MSAA which I have off because it drops the FPS from a solid 60 to an average of 50 and really at 2x MSAA you can't really tell its doing anything.

Well got the 650D case in the mail a few days ago so even though I haven't gotten a new GPU and cpu cooler I couldnt wait any longer, Gonna run the i5 at factory speed with the factory cpu cooler and my old 8800GTS untill I get a better cooler and GPU.

DAMN was my other system slow as hell compared to this! At least 10X faster all around! Heres a few pics of my Old VS New systems. once I get a new GPU the 8800GTS will go back into the old system and I haven't decided yet but I may just make my old system a media center for mt living room but I already have a PS3 running custom firmware, and a ROKU so not sure how much I would need/use the media center.

Been a while, still lacking a new video card. I have pretty much decided on a Radeon 1gb hd5770 for pricing reasons. pops was asking me about things i need so he could go xmas shopping and I mentioned the HD5770, If he ends up not getting one which is a 50/50 chance I will buy one right after xmas. You guys think this will be a good choice/setup? I'm hoping to be able to run Battlefield 3 at 1080p with high/max settings, think it will work good?
