Hitman Absolution

Okay guys & girls if your a big Hitman fan like me you'd like to know about what their saying in this interview. Here's the link http://www.vg247.com/2011/08/18/47-i...th-absolution/ and here's a few bits that caught my attention.

Quote:
And we got the time, the money from the board to actually make a new engine. We’ve had very little compromises from our management building this game. So it’s very much the Hitman game we wanted to make.
Its no secret that IO interactive aren't the biggest boys on the block when it comes to money and revenue. But that doesn't mean they don't churn out good games and always do the best they can with what they have. So this should mean that Hitman Absolution should have no strings attached in terms of time and money, this means that the developers can get everything just they way they want it.
Quote:
We knew the technology was kind of holding us back, so we wanted to start from scratch and build something better.
Makes me hopeful that they are going to create the next eye-candy game. This game is set to come out in 2012 so that means it won't be going up against games like BF3 or Rage for "this years most graphically demanding game" (as in 2011). I really hope that Absolution hits the market when it comes out and gets plenty of sales simply due to the fact its one of my favourite series and they really are working hard to make this game all that it can be.
Quote:
we still don’t know anything too much on what role Diana will play in Absolution. Blystad wouldn’t even say if the woman in the shower from the E3 video was even Diana. “I’m sorry, but we’re not really allowed to talk about her, or if it is her at all.
However in this interview the developers say
Quote:
"Agent 47 who is given his most personal contract to date"
and lets face it Diana is the closest person to him in the series and in the past game actually saved his life as the organisation turned against him. So if the contracted hit is Diana do you think 47 will be able to pull the trigger? or could it be something else? maybe the organisation has Diana under house arrest and 47 is saving her? who knows.

One of the things that was difficult with the old games was that there was a lot of freedom, but you really had to dig it out, it wasn’t really presented to you at all.
I understand where they are coming from here, often you don't notice certain things in a level on Hitman until the 4th or 5th play through. So hopefully they can improve this I just hope they don't make it so easy my pet cat could do it. However when they say this I think they are really catering for the new customers to the Hitman franchise and they are doing this to interest more people; by making it easier for people who haven't played it, it's less likely to put them off and discourage them from buying/recommending the game. Really brought to light when they mention:
Quote:
We’re catering for a large spectrum of players from the most-ultra hardcore to the people who play third-person games and they enjoy that and they just want a good experience.
This surely means the want to cater for those die hard fans and that the game can either be played run and gun or silent & stealthy. But surely they're also talking about people who are new to Hitman, to engross them and get them hooked?
Quote:
We’ll listen to them, but we won’t be dictated to by the fans
I like the sounds of this. Let me explain, I have nothing against communities asking for features and new abilities in games. One of the main games I enjoy atm COD zombies has been driven by the community, and it has worked really well. But when you think about it there's millions of different opinions out there and that means the developers can't possibly do everything that they're asked. So my interpretation of this is that they'll listen to as many ideas as possible and put their own spin on things, make these ideas their own.
Quote:
Absolution is running on a brand new engine called Glacier 2, and going by our demo yesterday, it makes the game looks incredibly sharp and detailed
For us who game on MENS machines and use PC's I'm hoping the game is crystal clear in Dx11 with all the perks of being Dx11. But don't get me wrong I appreciate consoles I mean they give millions of people kit that can play the latest games on the market and for this reason they're great for developers I mean lets face it if you wanted to release a movie but there was no such thing as DVD BR or video how would you do it? You simply couldn't. But the problem I have with consoles atm is that the graphics simply aren't up to scratch. They're 5-6 years old and back then... I had a 6600 in a AGP on my Pentium 3 xD I remember those days, didn't PC game much as you can tell

The point I'm trying to make is that we need a new era of consoles, the next generation. And when I saw the WiiU in e3 I thought "yay looks more powerful" but then again if Sony & Microsoft haven't been working on their next flagship console then we (as in the community) are taking them as fools and they're not ... I mean they're some of the biggest corporations in the world, they got there for a reason

Sorry I'll stop rambling about consoles now, back to the quote; new engine should mean (especially as it's coming in 2012) great performance and graphics.

Blystad continues, referring to the AI and sound: “And it’s something we’re continuously evolving because it is a very difficult beast when the player has so much freedom of choice. They can choose to attack from any given angle in any way, so the AI has to be able to support that in a believable fashion.
This sounds interesting, I mean we all love a challenge and lets face it in the older games if you played it a couple of times the AI was doing the SAME thing and you could pull it apart like a kitten with a mouse. But I hope they don't get silly like coming round a corner and all of a sudden BOOM head shot, 47 down for the count. But lets face it that's a fear you never have to worry about with Hitman, its more like they see you and rub their chin making a "hmmmm" noise as if they've seen you before. It would be nice to see more randomness in AI's actions and reactions to situations, so you couldn't predict and map your route like you have been able to in the past, but at the same time no boom head shot action please developers (if you are reading this I'm a big fan of Hitman and I'd like to electronically shake your hand with a smiley face haha).
Quote:
“Another one is sound design. We’ve built a very dynamic sound and music design system to follow this AI. So if you pull in the game in the action direction, everything you do will get kind of get more action feeling within the music.

“But if you let the game pull back and let it go back into a more stealthy direction, the music will dynamically follow. And every single action you do will be supported by the music. It’s something thats been very difficult for us to achieve, but now we believe its come very far.”
This sounds interesting, I mean I wonder whether you hear a victim panic? I mean I understand that the music speeds up and slows down but I wonder whether it stretches to situations with the victim and security?
Quote:
So if the game succeeds – and going by what I saw yesterday, it very well might – what next? It’s obvious: DLC. Right? When pushed if it was thinking about implementing DLC after the game’s release next year, Blystad wouldn’t talk about it, but dropped this big thing called a hint.

“It’s a perfect game for DLC. You’re a hitman, you do hits. How hard can it be?”
So they'll be selling contract packs right? or something along these lines? What would be REALLY interesting is if community were able to take these maps and create their own contracts/hits that could be shared over an in game Hitman market. (So basically custom maps and user created scenarios). But that's just an idea. =p

It'll be what Splinter Cell Conviction was to the Splinter Cell franchise.

Be ready for massive amounts of disappointment

I don't think I'll be disappointed =\\ I mean your basing that assumption on what? A trailer? I mean ubisoft and io interactive are completely different companies... So they're not going to do the same thing and besides what was wrong with conviction exactly?

I'm basing it on the fact that this game looks nothing like past Hitman games, and that they have removed the voice actor for Agent 47. He wanted to be the voice actor, but they gave him the finger and told him to take a hike. If that doesn't spell doom for the franchise, what does?

If you have to ask about Conviction, then I really don't know what to tell you. It was a terrible game that spat in the face of Splinter Cell fans.
