Help with my new gaming PC

Thread Starter
I want to build a gaming PC from the following components:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.30/3.70 GHz
CPU Cooler: Scythe Ninja 3
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3
RAM: Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 Dual Channel kit
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD6950 OC 1GB DDR5 256-bit
HDD: Western Digital 1 TB SATA-III 7200 rpm 32 MB Caviar Blue LX
DVD-RW: DVD-Writer Sony AD-7280S Bulk Black
PSU: Fortron Aurum Gold 700W
Case: RAIDMAX Thunder silver

Monitor: LCD Hanns.G HH221DPB 22 inch 5ms wide Glossy black (max resolution is 1920 x 1080)

Is this a good PC for gaming ? Can someone tell me some suggestions ?
The next week i will buy the components.

I would only suggest a couple of changes, but the base spec looks good.

First thing would be to swap the 6950 for the 2GB version as games are using more and more VRAM. I'd also go for a different proven CPU cooler such as the Hyper 212+. Lastly, always go with a reputable PSU such as the Corsair HX650.

It would be a much better gaming rig with a i5-2500K instead of the 1100T. In fact, the i3-2100, Intel's slowest i-core processor, is faster than the 1100T in gaming.

This, you will see a much greater gaming improvement with a 2500k over the thuban. Old architecture, not to mention gaming isn't going to take advantage of all 6 cores.

in what fantasy world is this true?
His cpu will be more than enough for any game he throws at it.

You're system is ready to rock, the cpu cooler is awesome, I dont know where the suggestion to get a hyper212+ came from. The one you selected will destroy the 212+

Just make sure teh PSU is quality

Name one game that uses more than 4 cores. The i5 according to all reviews I have seen show better gaming performance
