I believe the desk originally comes with holes in the 4 corners for the legs linked in OP, but adding one in the middle makes it even more sturdy. Not to say there was a problem with it being sturdy beforehand, but more of an extra precaution.

I should also mention, the one in the OP is 80"; the one I went with is the 60" version.

I opted for the smaller version+ the corner piece and it's been a great desk..

The galant definitely feels more sturdy but for the price I was able to get a lot of desk space without the paying the galant price..

Fits my 30 inch monitor, speakers and bunch of keyboards with no issue even though only 24 inches wide..also bought one of this ikea cable organizers to hide the cables

I have the long desk, too. The longer one is drilled out for 5 legs. They only thing to be aware of is it isn't solid wood. It is a wood veneer filled with compressed paper. For general use I don't see sturdiness being an issue, but just something to be aware of.

Here's mine.

May have just found my desk. I'll look into this for sure.

How would you feel about putting a loaded 800D on top of that desk along with the keyboard/mouse and monitor + couple of speakers and maybe a couple of extra stuff?

I hate having my computer on the ground right now, (see sig for quote)

Id imagine if you put it on either the far left or far right that it wouldn't be a problem... All the force would be going right down into the legs.
