OMG, that is both hilarious and infuriating at the same time! I would have made no correlation between the two if it hadn't been pointed out. Just makes it worse that it's an "eco" project whose goal is (obviously) not to undermine Apple's reputation, but to help improve our earth. Disgusting.

Where is this monopoly you speak of? I think alot of you grossly over estimate just how much apple controls in the mobile market. I'm not saying I agree with their tactics but your justifications for hating on them might need some revision.

Although Apple may only hold a quarter of the smartphone market (and seeing as they only have one line of phones- iPhones), they may not be dominating here. However, I'm sure in the "touchscreen smartphone" market, Apple has a healthier chunk.

By posting that chart are you implying that Google are monopolizing the market? If so, that's just wrong, as Google doesn't at ALL manufacture the Android phones. That 36% Android marketshare is between HTC, Motorola, Samsung, and LG... am I missing anyone? Our point is Apple is TRYING to monopolize the market, by eliminating Samsung and having their entire Galaxy smartphone line banned. Once they see that they can get away with it (if they do) HTC is next. Then Motorola. Then LG. See where the monopolization comes in? Eliminating competition = monopolization, whether it be through buying the competition (AT&T buying T-Mobile), sabotaging the competition (Apple throwing in some false documents to win a temporary ban on Samsung products), or other means. It's called corporate espionage.

I'm not shocked at all that Apple is doing so well financially. Their sales are tremendous. In my opinion, yes, their sales are great, but only thanks to their marketing being somewhat deceptive (Macs don't get viruses PCs do blah blah insert typical Mac commercial here) and to the general public that has "conformed" and made Apple this decade's cliche. It's sad... yesterday night I was in Miami Beach, walked by 3 Starbucks that are pretty much side by side, and there were nothing but Macs and iPhones on the tables. It looked like I was in the movie Pleasantville or something, where everyone has the same everything. It bothers me to an extent (just the fact that people are so naive into thinking Apple is the best of everything when they're most certainly not) but in the end I trot along and continue on my thing. I make good money off these Apple users anyway lol.

I never mentioned anything about google monopolizing anything. I know you may be looking for something to argue with me about but the chart speaks for itself. Your argument is also filled with a lot of what if's. Thats a slippery slope that I won't even go into. Apples market share makes up roughly 1/4 of the market, and it would take some serious swing of events for apple to even approach a monopoly. I just get tired of people spreading so much biased mis-information on this forum. While apples business practices may be sketchy at best, doesn't change the facts that their market share is no where near monopoly levels.

No, I'm not trying to start an argument with you. I'm just pointing out that you posted a chart, stating that Apple is not a monopoly. No one has said that they ARE a monopoly, but that their affairs in trying to get Samsung's products banned off the market are monopolistic practices.

Market share has nothing to do with a company doing monopolistic acts. No, Apple is NOT a monopoly. That's not what everyone here is saying. Your graph does show this. AT THE MOMENT, there is plenty of competition. What we're saying is that they are pulling monopolistic acts, TRYING to cut out the competition. That's monopolistic.

I agree that cutting the competition out is a bit sinister in the path to increased market share. But in the end that's all it is, increasing market share, which is not illegal. I'm just pointing out that the reputation for Apple being this end-all monopoly is unfounded, and that while this particular action does seem like a move to box out Samsung completely, it is in no way illegal or in breach of anti-trust act that so many people are quick to point out and compare to Microsoft.

Apple is going to get it soon. Wait until the day everything they've built for themselves goes up in smoke because of errors they've made. These ridiculous litigation fall under the arguments of slippery slope and being a whining child.

So can i still buy a Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 from, say, amazon.com and have it shipped into the UK, or would I have to physically smuggle it back in with me from the states?
