I was on the same fence as the op recently over which graphics card to get. I decided to settle with a 560 ti, after still being worried about it being able to max even BC2. Safe to say, I was blown away . I run BC2 maxed @1080p at about 75fps. I'm more than confident I'll do fine with BF3, even if I have to drop the AA down from 4x to 2x. And when kepler starts being released, I'll pick up a Ti for 100-150$ and sli np .

Pure amd fanboy bull****.

4 580's would then again Kill the 69xx, three or four. So this is your Score? You need four AMD cards to match up to / beat two nvidia cards performance?

The 580 is the most powerful out of them all. Why would I buy 4x HD6950's if I can afford 4x GTX 580. On top of that when you say in your own words that you'd need three or four to match up for two 580's.

OP: Just get the GTX580 and pickup a second one when the prices drop. You can get some good deals on these cards on OCN marketplace too.

OP go for a GTX 580. Kepler is still a while off and it is not certain that it will be as fast as the roadmap would lead us to believe.

Actually 2 6970s perform fairly close to 2 GTX 580s, and 3 of them are generally faster because of better scaling, though there aren't many reviews. 4 cards are only good for benchmarking, sometimes you get lower results with 3 compared to 2 in games.

Thanks posters; I'm thinking 560 ti sli might be the way to go.

1x 560 ti for now; and if i struggle with BF3 with AA low / Arthoscopic filtering low; then i can pick up another 560ti to sli ftw

thanks for the tips all.

p.s. i looked at a couple benchmark tests -- 560ti sli > 1x 580 ? **no rom for improvement no, but with kepler coming i am going to be moving to the next gen anyway right?

Selling a 580 when Kepler is released will be a lot easier than a 560 even Ti's. Go look how many 460s are forsale in the OCN buy/sell section, then count how many 480 or even 580s to 560's. When I upgrade my 460s I'll probably sell them to friends locally for stupid cheap just to get rid of them.
