I parked my car in a handicap zone once so as not to be more late for my appointment, drove right up to wall so that the drive wheels (FWD Car) were blocked (they should pick it up by the drive wheels to avoid damage to your car) and locked the handbrake as hard as I could. I also have those "wind guards" so they can't slim jim into your car without destroying them. They can tow your car but aren't ever supposed to damage anything, destroying even those $5 pieces of plastic would constitute damage.

Theoretically this made the car untowable without causing damage. Guess what, they picked it up by the rear wheels and dragged it on to a flat bed. The tires had some bald spots after I picked it up.

In the UK they pick the car up using a crane mounted on the back of a truck so what you do would be pointless for me. As for locking the handbrake as hard as you could, that is not a good idea. You could snap the cable which will cost a bucket load of money to fix. Unless you have a car with a hydrualic handbrake. But if what they don't pick the whole car up in the US (assuming you are in the US) just park the car like you said you did there and leave it in gear (1st gear if manual D if automatic if you can) and pull the handbrake up no more than 4 clicks.

EDIT: FWD - don't leave it in gear just turn the wheel at full lock either left or right and make sure the steering lock is on so they can't correct it. That will make it impossible for them to tow it away without having to pick up the whole car .

Yea but like I said, some towing agencys don't give two poos about your car and if they can't get to it they will do something stupid that damages it, like dragging the car. I've never seen the craine thing in America or Canada. People who steal cars obviously won't care. Even if you do all what I said, what you said and more if they really want it and aren't the type to do something that damages your car, they have one last recourse.

Protable wheel dollies and a flatbed, they jack your car up and put it on little wheels then move it without damaging anything onto a flatbed. Only thing I can think of to counter that would be having your car so low to the ground they coudn't wedge a jack underneeth or having a car with air ride suspension and dropping it to the floor when you park.

I bet in GTA 6 you wouldn't need to break the windows just to steal a locked car

So they installed a "black box" into all the cars they sold? so if they became late on their payments they could honk the horn or cause them to not start... Lame.

If the bad guys can do it, that means the "good" guys (cops/fbi/cia/etc) can do it too...

This is just a show, probably by some former employee, that the system is bad...

Worse yet, every time they try to do a "thorough" back ground check on those employees, they usually come up blank, so any "future" criminals defect while employed or after, either way, the hackers are out there, en mass, and they want revenge on the "system"...

It's a war going on this year, the nerds vs the "Rich" & "Powerful" (corporations etc) and other "not suppose to talk about" organizations...

If you have been following tech at all, you would have realized the big car companies put a remote kill switch on the newer cars they sold. For what 5 years now? GPS was bound to get hacked, and you know this, OnStar will be the next big target, watch...

This reminds me of latest Die Hard (the last one where they had the Firesale)

There isn't even a GTA 5 yet lol and in the world of GTA breaking the window is the most efficient way to steel a car.
