In gaming, this will match or exceed the performance of your 970 considering you can push it to 4.7 GHZ easily.

I dare you to find anything that AMD has to offer at ANY price point that beats that price / performance combo.

You came here and posted your computer specs and asked for opinions.

Next time you build a computer, ask 1st, build 2nd.

Around here, most people will give you advice on the best direction to go, whether it's Intel or AMD.
Im not blaming INTEL at all, it just sucks to hear everyone say the same thing... I already knew what processor I wanted but didn't realize that the i970 was considered "OLD". Trust me I have been glued looking up Benchmarks and all that stuff for the stuff I have. I already am well aware of what is out there. It just jumped before I got to it , and what I meant by not building INTEL I just wanna stick with AMD from now on because of how often they change and the benefits of convenience. Intel cost a lot of money and is jumping around way too much for me to want to stick around. I read another guys post... *** Socket 1156, ok now socket 1155 -_- ... seriously Now thats a new board and a new processor... And that is everyone saying what they are saying to me now lol. When its AMD I feel like its more for the average computer builder like myself . INTEL is cool and very fast, shoot I love my ASUS G73JW-A1
( http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...rvers-_-868983 )

But even when I purchased my ASUS, BOOM right around the corner Sandybridge was there for my laptop... so I knew then Stuff gets old fast so I tried lol

Re-read my post. Sorry if I sound if I'm lecturing you, but if you still can, return the 1366 parts, go Sandy Bridge, and get yourself a better monitor.

You'll be able to use your 3GB 580 and have a MUCH better gaming experience.

We all want to see you get the best bang for your buck.

If you got a 3gb 580. get a couple more monitors, otherwise. What is the point, unless you get an IPS monitor. Also, loose the g15 and g500. Get a mechanical keyboard and a steel series xai with a 9hd as a mousepad

Id give.your system a 6 as of now

Looking at the Xai right now, I really do like this G500 though ... it just works for me and the Mouse pad makes no difference to me hehe. But I am checking into it. As far as monitors go, Im not really into multiple monitors ... Actually in the Vid card game it really is up to the user, so yes while I have the GTX 580 with 3GB ... so what? Overkill lol It just gives me room t add more if and when I decide to thanks for pointing me to the Mouse though... now its in the back of my mind

I am going to have join the others, with a 6 score. I have to question using 2 sticks of RAM on a triple channel board. Plus, 24gb? Half that, in the form of 3x4gb would be better.

I can't knock using an X58 platform, I did the same with NO regrets. My system rocks! (To put it mildly.) And as software catches up, there is still room for improvement.

What are you doing for sound/speakers? Never mind,,,,, I just looked.....

The monitor issue has been covered.

All that aside, Enjoy your new system.

Overpriced but very solid.

The problem with the 970 is not 1155, it's the price. For $600 it's not that much faster than a 2600K. However if I had to choose between a 970 and a 2600K for $300 then 970 is the obvious choice.

My recommendation is to buy a bigger monitor.

If I was building a new rig today, I wouldn't even consider 1366, let alone a 970 when the 2600K is a beast for 1/2 the price.

No offense to the OP, but he doesn't really know what he's doing, and we're trying to steer him in a better direction. It'd be better for him to spend more money on a better monitor, then limiting $350 for a monitor with a 3GB 580 in it.
Ok, now put price aside.

your argument: Hey guys! look what I did with my Honda!

my argument: ... yeah, it's a Ferrari...

6 core is more future proof than 4 core, regardless of price. Sandy Bridge is great, x58 is better, unless you just want headers and an exhaust tip on your Honda that is....
