Overkill lol It just gives me room t add more if and when I decide to thanks for pointing me to the Mouse though... now its in the back of my mind
I used both the G500 and the Xai, and while the G500 is a good mouse (and I believe even the same sensor) the overall build quality of the Xai is far superior. I personally hated the rubbery coating the G500 had, it felt gross and unclean (literally). I was much happier when I invested in the Xai, and after I did a side by side comparison, my hat went off to Steelseries for pumping out such a quality product. Also, as for the mousepad, I felt the same way too until I got my 9HD (when I bought my Xai, I got the mouse pad just to try it out and see what the fuss was about) and I definately prefer a hard surface now. It feels as if there is no drag whatsoever when moving my mouse. Is it gonna get me any extra frags while playing BC2? No, definately not. But it does make the overall experience of using a mouse more "pleasant". In regards to a 3gb being overkill, I agree with you in saying "so what". I have the same mentality. But I meant that you could really beef up your experience if you upped your display with it. That card will DEFINATELY last you quite some time. Easily for 2 generations of video cards (or more) maxing out, or nearly maxing out future games. If you are not into multiple monitors then I would again say look into a nice IPS monitor with 1600 resolution. I personally have never seen/played with it, but I had seen tons of posts praising the superior quality and display of it. And with that resolution you will definately be getting your money's worth out of that GPU.

While I understand its personal opinion, thats a pretty harsh way to rate a rig. A vast majority of people will not be able to afford an SR02, 2 xeons and quad 580s. It is far more reasonable to factor in bang for buck/quality of parts (for example: compairing a generic no name PSU against a Corsair PSU of the same wattage). The only reason I gave the rig a 6 is because I felt he could change a few things to improve it. If he exchanged some things for higher quality parts in the same price range, I would gladly give him an 9 or 10.

Based on that logic, what do you rate your rig?

I give it a 2.2

While I agree a 6 core is more future proof, SB-E is out in Q4. Now, THAT's the 6 core I'm personally upgrading to. 1366 will be obsolete. The 3930K will walk all over the 970 for the same price. Anyway....

This is a gaming rig which includes a 3GB 580 for a 22" monitor.

Why not save $750 plus the $350 in his monitor budget, and put THAT towards a 1600p 30" screen instead. Same money spent, WAY better gaming experience.

Do you know which the better gaming platform is?

Hint: It's not 1366 anymore.

It don't matter, my build will still eat things alive regardless of how it looks right now . I admit it is nowhere near perfect at all , and at this time I am limited to what I want... in the beginning of the year my build would have been great but things change so its cool. Even the people that rated my build a 1 could admit that it will eat anything alive that I throw at it right ?

What monitor are you planning on getting?

There's a huge disconnect in having a 3GB 580 for a 1680 x 1050 res.

7 since you have 1 GPU and you have 24GB RAM.

You must be kidding! Don't ever think about a 23" monitor. At least get a 26" one. Unless you get a decent large monitor, it doesn't matter what your cpu or gpu is. I was used to use a 19" monitor and I bought a 26" (1920x1200) one. Believe me gaming experience difference was "night and day" and size really matter Do whatever you want but get a large hi-res monitor. Or you just waste your hardware and only think that you are gaming on 22" or 23" monitors although you are actually not.

People here in OCN have really valuable experience and opinions, you should consider them, that's for your profit. And good luck on your future purchases

Those bigger monitors that are IPS LCD cost WAY too much money... Im not really into Monitors really I just see if it looks good and if the Image is sharp I will take it, not like my Video card is going to eat dirt if I don't have something bigger lol. The point is, everything I have as of right now will work right off without issues... I think . My system is "UNORTHODOX" I just need time really... Monitors are very good investments don't get me wrong, I have had mines for years. They just cost so freaking MUCH!
