Recovering a partition

Hey.

I had some important encrypted data on my HDD but I accidentally formatted it and now I would like to recover the partition. To make the matter worse I installed Suse linux on it too I was able to boot up with a recovery software and confirmed that the file is still there but that darn program wouldn't let me recover the file.

So there are two different ways to approach this problem now. Recover the file and try to decrypt it (I've no idea how, going to need help with this too) OR recover the partition, run W7 system recovery and hope I can get the OS back up and decrypt it with the password I hopefully still remember

I've tried a few programs but so far haven't been able to recover the file. The biggest problem for me seems to be making bootable media. I would like to use USB since that way I could recover the file straight to the USB stick.

Big thanks to anyone who helps.

I was able to get the files out of there but unfortunately the recovery software tries to decrypt the file while I would like to get it out encrypted as I was able to get the password file out.
