Video compressor suggestion?

Thread Starter
Well, I want to compress my videos recorded with fraps, because as you know they are way too big. What is the best program for this available? My OS is Win7 64bit. I remember there was a program with "dub" in its name, but I dont quite remember it..

So what would you suggest me? My main purpose is to decrease the size of the video so I can edit it and upload it on youtube.

I would say WebM since it's one of the formats used by youtube and I'm an open source fanatic supporter, but I have very little idea what would be the best format for actual editing. I'm assuming editing them as they are would be too heavy (really don't know much about video editing).
