But I'm gonna have to shoot for the socket being burnt out.. anyone else?
If not, then troll has caught your attention, mine as well.
By default, the BIOS is set to options that, upon power being restored to the tower (Example: I have it unplugged, then I plug the power cord back into the back of the power supply) it will momentarily power up and then cutoff. I do not know the extent of this option, I never spent much time fooling around with the BIOS.

Upon plugging in the tower and restoring power to it, it will power up and stay powered up in this strange state (Exhibited during the misuse of the CPU).

I do not know the thermal grease used. It was the grease that comes pre-applied to CPUs in newly built systems based off the manufacturer's specifications. I seriously do not know what thermal grease it was.

EDIT: I made a ton of mistakes and called grease paste. God help me.

What thermal paste did you use that got onto the pins? Was it Artic Silver 5? Please specify which one!

Anyways if it was sometihng like MX-2 or MX-4, TX-2 or something that isn't conductive or capative I don't see an issue.

Willing to bet he has no idea, probably stock paste.

*edit* Heh, noticed I was right, didn't see his post.

PICS PLEASE
