Yeah, I noticed that after my initial post.

What sort of stripe, cluster, and offset are you using?

Here is my 3x1TB Hitachi 7k1000.C array, geared up for sequential write performance (it's my FRAPS array):



Intel ICH10R, newest Intel RAID driver, write-back cache enabled, 128k stripe, 384k offset/alignment, exFAT file system, 128k clusters, buffer flushing disabled.

Stripe: 3TB (used partitions to split it up)
Cluster: 128k
Offset: None

Stripe size, normally ranging from 4 to 128k, is what you set in the RAID config. It's the size of each chunk of data that goes to each physical disk.

As for offset, you might see a small boost in performance if you do this manually. By default Windows 7 uses 1024k offset, which is fine for most setups, but if you have an odd number of drives, it's not ideal. You want the offset divided by the stripe size multiplied by the number of drives in the stripe to equal a whole number integer.

I thought that was the cluster? My bad. Cluster size is default then, 4k?

I may have to look into that. But right now it's at the default.
