FPS Optical Gaming Mouse (G400, DeathAdder, Ikari, MS 3.0)

Hi to all, i'm new on this forum but i read it every day, so today it's my turn to do a thread asking some stuff.

First of all sory my bad english, i'm from Argentina, south america.

I'm planning to buy a new fps gaming mouse(now using a 3 years old mx518 1600dpi old sensor). I want an optical mouse because i don't like lasers for fps, and i use low sensitivity and 800 DPI, for me the best.

So which mouse should i buy? The deathadder is a great mouse but when i buyed my MX518 i buyed it instead of the razer(old sensor with 1800 dpi in these moment). The ms 3.0 was and is one of the best fps gaming mouse, but i think it's too old.
The ikari doesn't like too much, and of course, the new G400, the upgrade of mx518 but i'm not sure.

Here are the specs:

Ikari:
1600 DPI
6400 frames per second
15G max acceleration
40 inches per second
6 botones

DeathAdder:
3500 DPI
6400 frames per second
15G max acceleration
60-120 inches per second
5 botones

MS 3.0:
800 DPI
9000 frames per second
25G max acceleration
54 inches per second
5 botones

G400:
3600 DPI
6400 frames per second
25G max acceleration
140 inches per second
8 botones

Thanks to all!

regards

If you're comfortable gaming with the MX518, I suggest you go for the G400. It has better materials (non-glossy) but keeps all the things that make the mx great.

Out of the four palm mice listed, popular consensus would be the DeathAdder for its flawless sensor and high perfect control speed (~4 m/s). Be aware that it will have a higher LOD (lift off distance) when compared to your mx518. It is about 3-4 "cds" high, meaning that the mouse will continue to record movement from a distance below this 3-4 cd height.

The 3.0 offers lower perfect control speed and introduces prediction but has a low LOD. Prediction is a personal preference, I'll leave that up to you to decide your stance. Prediction is best explained through angle snapping, the mouse will inherently "snap" to a vertical or horizontal line.

The G400 is essentially an upgrade from the mx518 and introduces 3600 DPI (which you wouldn't utilize anyway based on your low sensitivity preference) and 1000hz out-of-the-box. If you did not overclock your usb, this would be a noticeable difference in coming from the mx518. The G400 is prone to prediction, but your mx518 will have behaved similarly so you should be comfortable with it.

I do not know much of the Ikari unfortunately, so I will leave it up for someone else to comment. But I can say that it doesn't seem to be a popular option.

In coming from a mx518, I would say the choice is between the G400 and the DeathAdder. For you, I would lean towards the G400 because there would be less to adapt to.

the clear winner to me is the G400, however, a gaming mouse is a gaming mouse, they are ususally all good, unless you are a SUPRE PROO L33T HAX0R FPS WALL HAXZ gamer. just sayin wink.gif

I would go for the IME 3.0 if you like low DPI, IIRC it's 800 DPI. I LOVE IT. I however use a G9

The razer deathadder is my favorite mouse ATM. The MX518 was great but my hand grew and I can't fit it anymore. Both work well and choose whichever one feels the most comfortable. If you prefer prediction stick with Logitech.

If you want the razer deathadder shape but want a low lift-off distance, get the 1800 dpi deathadders. Mine won't track on anything more than 1 cd.

G400 seeing it's "the new 518". I had a 518, got the DeathAdder...love em both. My next mouse will be the G400 however.
