New AMD build, or wait for Bulldozer? - Page 3

Bulldozer is almost here AND in addition to that DDR3 prices are very low. This'll look good for people who want to make an upgrade

It is *likely* that the CMT (chip multi-thraeding) solution in the FX processor will be more efficient than the fairly inefficient HyperThreading on Intel's quad core i7 processor. The FX 8-core will be available at as low as $3000 (one model has been confirmed at approx. $300 by AMD). Comparable offerings from Intel may total in the $500+ range (i.e. 6 core/12 thread).

Hope that helps you decide.

all in all, buying something which has just released is foolishness (no offence) as that stuff is overpriced only because it has no competitors.

BD has 4, 6 and 8 core variants.

You don't have to buy the 8 core one. If BD has IPC greater than Nehalem, or even almost as good as SB, then a 4 core BD, at a lower price than SB, would be the best buy.

Everyone on here is hung up on BD only having an 8 core model.

Won't it be a am4 socket to take advantage of the new system?
like the am2+ and am3 systems.

Yea, guess you could say I'm secretly awaiting BF3 release to see where what card stands where with that game.
