Windows 7 Professional 32/64bit Upgrade Key Issue

Thread Starter
Can't get the key to work with Windows Anytime Upgrade. Yes, it is an Anytime Upgrade key as well as a clean install key. Its the retail package, comes with 32bit and 64bit disks. However, it just never works, and it's not currently installed on any computer. Any ideas on how to get it to work?

Also, I don't have SP1, so there should be no conflicts with that.

Call up Microsoft. If you paid, they will help.

Exactly, and there really isn't a whole lot you could do but call in either way.

Let me get this straight you have a retail copy of Windows 7 and you want to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7?

I don't know why Windows Anytime Upgrade came into the picture but WAU is used for upgrading from a lower edition of Windows 7 to a higher edition of Windows 7. You can't use it to go from Vista to 7.

Have a look at this post which I answered a question on this.

Do a clean install but don't put the CD key in then follow the post.

http://www.overclock.net/14674852-post13.html

If you follow this you can use the upgrade CD after the install first time without double install

as far as upgrade goes... you can not upgrade from home premium to anything other than 7 home premium without a specific upgrade key that can be purchased from m$ (as far as I know anyway) belive me... I have tried upgrading from vista home premium to 7 ultimate and got a very disheartening error telling me that you can not do it
